012Bergen Catholic Oradell, N.J…….. The Playaz Basketball Club sponsored New Years Jumpoff had a spectacular day of Hoops with 7 games played! At the end of the day Bergen Catholic, St, joseph Regional, Hudson Catholic, Kennedy, Hackensack, The Patrick School and East Orange all left the day as winners!

                                                                                       BERGEN CATHOLIC  69     ST. RAYMOND’S(N.Y.)  67

In a game featuring two of the  best teams in their respective States, Bergen Catholic one of New Jersey’s best teams came from behind to defeat St. Raymond’s, one of New York’s finest teams 69-67! Trailing by as much as 20, Bergen catholic came all the way back as Sophomore Will Richardson and Senior Matt Zona led the way! Richardson led the way with 31 points and 7 assists, while Zona, the Notre Dame commit added a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds! Senior Jahsiem Davis did an outstanding job on the defensive end as well as pulled down 12 rebounds himself for B.C.! Senior Malachi Smith led St. Ray’s with 30 points and 3 assists! Richardson and Smith were named MVP’s of the contest for their respective squads!

Senior Dyree Rogers layup gave St, Joseph the lead for good with seconds left as they defeated Gill St.Bernard 64-62! Rogers finished the contest with 17 points as Junior Albert Serrano scored 13, Senior Naz Williams added 12 and Junior Daniel Lans finished with 11! Princeton commit Zach Martini led Gill with 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Sophomore Denver Anglin added 16 points and 4 steals and Freshman Mackenzie Mgbako chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds! Rogers and Martini were chosen MVP’s of the contest!

Sophomore Zion Cruz scored 17 points and dished out 6 assists to lead Hudson Catholic to a 54-51 win over Montclair Immaculate! Senior Phil Brown added 10 points and 7 rebounds for Hudson! Junior Amar’e Marshall led Immaculate with 13 points, while Junior Zakai Zeigler and Senior Zayon Marsh scored 11 points apiece! Cruz and Marshall were MVP’s of the contest!

Senior Mark Heber scored 16 points with 8 rebounds and Senior Deishon Harrison added 15 points and 5 assists to lead Kennedy to a win over Montclair 58-55! Senior Jalen Hargrove added 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Knights! Monyclair was led by Senior Reid Eaves with 14 points and Junior Omarion Jett with 12 points! Heber and Eaves were MVP’S of the contest!

Senior Seth Sharif-Brown scored 31 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 3 assists  and Sophomore Shawn Reckley added 21 points as Hackensack defeated Eastside 74-55! Senior Amire Walker chipped in 11 points for the Comets! Junior Levi Holton led Eastside with 17 points! Brown and Holton were voted MVP’s of the contest! Note: Special award went to Senior Alexander Douglas(far right) who has overcome challenges in his life to score his first Hackensack bucket!

Senior Zarique Nutter scored 13 points as five  players reached double figures as The Patrick Schoo011l dominated t The Life Center 78-31! Junior Mouhamed Sou scored 12, Senior Kirk Parsons scored 11 and Junior Chris Jiao and Junior sensation Jonathan Kuminga chipped in 10 points apiece! Junior Daniel Hayden led Life center with 6 points! Nutter and Hayden were choseb MVP’s of the contest!

Junior Ny’Jae Mann- Lanier had a double-double with 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and Junior Izaiah Poole added 19 points to lead East Orange to a 65-54 win over Teaneck! Senior Elian Tejada led Teaneck with 22 points and 12 rebounds! Mann-Lanier and Tejada were chosen MVP’s of the contest!
