KENNEDY SQUEAKS BY DEPAUL 49-48!
Wayne,N.J…… Junior Alphonso Gee is one of the best offensive players in North Jersey, but he could not get it going in the 1st half! The tables turned in the 2nd half as he scored 16 of his 18 points in the stanza, including three free throws after being fouled on a three point attempt to help Kennedy survive a 49-48 game over a feisty DePaul Catholic! DePaul Freshman Jamir Lattimore had the assignment of guarding Gee and did a tremendous job! But Gee is a crafty player who decided that he couldn’t go around so he started shooting from deep! Very Deep! His 3″triples” in the 2nd half gave him room to open up the floor! But, despite him starting to heat up DePaul would not go away! Baskets by Robert Robinson and a three by Senior Debon Bright put DePaul in the game early in the 3rd 35-34! The game went back and forth into the 4th! With 2:06 left Lattimore’s behind the back dribble to shake a defender and pass to Senior Sean Willis gave DePaul a 48-46 lead! That’s when Gee took a three pointer and drew a foul! His three free throws gave Kennedy the deciding points! Bright led DePaul with 16 points and Willis finished with 1o points! Senior Jevon Rawls had 9 points for Kennedy and Junior Jordan Rodriguez added 8 points!
