GROUP 3 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL: BERGENFIELD DEFEATS EWING 80-72 IN O.T.!

Rutgers University,N.J….This was by far the best game of the day, Bergenfield proved to have resiliency and grit to overcome the favored Ewing team and win in overtime 80-72 and become the Group 3 State Champions! Bergenfield’s brother duo of Jovani Haskins and D.J Haskins proved to be too much for the Ewing team on the inside as Jovani finished the game with 20 points and pulled down 22 rebounds and D.J. finished with 26 points and 19 boards! Bergenfield out rebounded Ewing 51-25 in the game! Bergenfield led 32-30 at the half, but Ewing started the 3rd quarter on a 9-0 run to take a 39-32 lead but just when it seemed Ewing had control Bergenfield would change the tide and come storming back! They seemed to have the game won in regulation but Deon Hale and Temple commit Trey Lowe scored buckets late with Lowe’s coming with 20 seconds left to send it into overtime at 63! Bergenfield started the overtime on an 8-0 run that gave them a 71-63 lead! Ewing could never recover! James Hamilton scored 16 points for Bergenfield  and Lenard Bellosa  added 11! Lowe finished with 25 points and 9 rebounds and Hale finished with 17 points! Bergenfield moves to the T.O.C. at 21-5 while Ewing finished the season with a 29-4 record!
