JUST JUNE RESULTS: BERGEN CATHOLIC WINS”CHIP”!

Roberto  Clemente Paterson,N.J…. The Playaz Basketball sponsored 12th year of the “Just June” Summer Basketball League finished up with a hyped up final game as old rivals Don Bosco Prep and Bergen Catholic met to see who would hold summer bragging rights!

Bergen Catholic trailed 41-33 at the half, but overcame the deficit and held on to pull off the “Chip” taking a 64-63 win Bergen Catholic points ! Rising Senior Gabe Steffanini led BC with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists and made two huge buckets late, including an and one layup which put them ahead for good! Rising Senior Taj Benning and Rising Senior Thomas Binelli each chipped in 12 points for Bergen Catholic! Don Bosco Prep was led by Rising Junior Marcellus Earlington who scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, Rising Junior Ron Harper who added 13 points and Rising Senior Chris Paul with 10 points! Steffanini(right) was named MVP, while Earlington(left) received the Sportsmanship award! Bergen Catholic reached the finals by defeating a tough, relentless Newark Eastside team 65-61! Benning was the star of the game as he scored 19 points while Rising Sophomore Jayson Earle added 12 points! Rising Senior Elijah Olaniyi led Newark Fastside with 16 points and Rising Junior Shamir Johnson’s 12 points! Prep reached the finals by defeating Immaculate Conception 68-34 as Earlington led the way with 18 points!  Rising Sophomore Justin Galea and Rising Senior Jordyn Owens led IC with 11 and 10 points respectively!
