NJIC SMALL SCHOOL TOURNAMENT: QUEEN OF PEACE AND ST.MARY’S ADVANCE TO “CHIP”!
Becton Regional H.S., N.J…..The inaugural NJIC Small School Tournament had it’s Semi-Final action take place at Bergen Regional and saw Queen Of Peace and St.Mary’s win their games and prepare to meet for the Championship Thursday!
QUEEN OF PEACE 74 WOOD RIDGE 47
Queen Of Peace had four players in double figures as they ran away from Wood ridge 74-47 in the first Semi-final game! Sophomore Josh Daniels(right) led the way with 16 points! Senior Rasheen Peppers scored 14 points, Sophomore Ahmaz Athias added 13 points and Sophomore Isa Brown had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds for QP! Sophomore’s Ibn Grimsley and Amere alexander each dished out 5 dimes in the contest! Junior Jack Barteck led Wood Ridge with 14 points, Junior Luke Vu-Nguyen added 14 points and Junior Andrew Marino chipped in 10 points for Wood Ridge!
ST. MARY’S 62 RUTHERFORD 51
Junior Marc Dadika(near right) had a monster game with 26 points and 15 rebounds and Senior Justin Dykstra(right) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals to lead St.Mary’s to a 62-51 win over Rutherford! St.Mary’s led by as much as 16 points, but Rutherford made a run to cut the lead down to 8 late in the 4th quarter behind Senior Dom Mignone! St.Mary’s held on behind the play of Dykstra and Senior Alex Pena down the stretch! Mignone finished with 22 points for Rutherford and 13 points from Freshman Jack DeBari!
