FREEDOM FIGHTERS RESULTS: NEWARK EASTSIDE, KENNEDY, NEWARK CENTRAL AND BARRINGER WIN!

Don Bosco Tech Academy Paterson,N.J…… The Playaz Basketball Club and Paterson Recreation sponsored Freedom Fighters saw Newark Eastside, Kennedy, Newark Central and Barringer come away with wins!

 

                                                                                      NEWARK EASTSIDE  66       TEANECK  64

Newark Eastside Junior Anas Amos(solo pic) went coast to coast and converted on a layup at the buzzer as they defeated Teaneck 66-64! Teaneck led by as much as 10 points late in the game, but Newark Eastside forced turnovers and soon came all the way back to take the lead 64-62 on a layup by Senior Jahid Jenkins! Teaneck Senior Ja’Quaye James made two free throws to to tie it at 64 and set the stage for Amos heroics! Senior Shamir Johnson led Newark Eastside with 20 points, while Jenkins added 14 points and Senior DeAndre Speight chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds! James led Teaneck with 20 points and Senior Nadame Tucker added 14 points and 12 rebounds! Johnson(left) and James (right)were chosen Players of the Game!

Senior Jaylen Colon scored 24 points and with his final two free throws scored his 1,000th career Highschool points and lead Kennedy to a 70-60 win over Columbia! Senior Jamir Lattimore scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Junior Avant’e Gilbert added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Kennedy! Sophomore Zayon Marsh scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Columbia! Kennedy held a 45-43 lead to end the 3rd, but outscored Columbia 25-17 in the 4th to pull away!  Colon(right) and Marsh(left) were chosen Player of the Game!

Sophomore Zerique Nutter scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and Senior Keith Rogers scored 23 points and dished out 5 assists to lead Newark Central to a 74-63 win over Paterson Eastside! Newark Central held a 33-32 lead at the end of the 1st half, but took a 51-38 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter and never was threatened! Eastside was led by Senior Lamar Johnson with 29 points and Yoheily Ortiz with 15 points! Nutter(left) and Johnson (right)were chosen Players of the Game!

 

 

 

 

                                                                          BARRINGER  60     PATERSON CHARTER  54

Senior Troy Rodwell scored 23 points and Senior Jazir Clark added 15 points to lead Barringer to a 60-54 Double Overtime win over Paterson Charter! Charter trailed by 9 at the half, but fought hard in the second half behind the play of Junior Bashir Byrd and Junior Rajah Cameron and finally tied the game at 46 to end the first four quarters! Rodwell scored the first 5 points in the second overtime and Clark put an exclamation dunk to end the contest! Byrd finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Cameron added 12 points and 7 steals! Sophomore Caleb Ruffin got his first action of the year and scored 12 points with 5 rebounds for Charter! Turnovers proved to be the downfall for Charter! Rodwell(left) and Byrd(right) were chosen Players of the Game!
