HACKENSACK HOLDS ON TO DEFEAT KENNEDY 68-62!
Hackensack,N.J…. In a great atmosphere and an entertaining contest Hackensack held on to defeat Kennedy 68-62 in a North 1 Group 4 semifinal game!Youngstown St. commit Atiba Taylor(right) played brilliantly as he scored 29 points and made crucial plays late to lead the Comets to the exciting victory! Hackensack seemed to have control of the game at the end of the 3rd quarter as they led 48-39, but Kennedy came roaring back behind the play of Senior combo Jaylen Colon and Jamir Lattimore! The defensive presence of 6’8 big Chandler Williams made it tough for Kennedy late and two putbacks by Senior Razeyah Surrell helped hold Kennedy off! Senior B.J. Saliba scored 12 points for Hackensack and Surrell added 10 points! Colon finished with 18 points and 8 assists and Lattimore added 11 points, all in the 2nd half and 11 rebounds! Hackensack will now host North Bergen in the finals!
Farewell: Gardenstatehoops would like to acknowledge the Highschool careers of Kennedy’s Seniors! Zhimier Cantey, Elijah Thomas were two role players for Kennedy who played integral parts in helping Kennedy have a successful Season! This site has a special connection to Jaylen Colon and Jamir Lattimore! More than Basketball players to this site, they are family! Jaylen(near) has become one of the best offensive players in the area and has a game that can transcend to the next level! He will be making a decision on his future in the near future! Jamir(far) is one of the top defensive guards in the state and came into his own as a leader on the court! His 180 turn around in his commitment to the game showed all Season long and in the end he will see his hard work pay off! Gardenstatehoops would like to congratulate these players on their tremendous year and to a bright future! And they know where I’m at!
