GARFIELD HOLDS OFF EASTERN CHRISTIAN 55-52!

Haledon,N.J…. Garfield had to hold on late to overcome Eastern Christian 55-52!

Junior Elias Chery(far right) scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Sophomore Zach Cook(right) added 16 and Junior Nakie Graham chipped in 14 points with 7 rebounds to lead Garfield! The Boilermakers held a lead as large as 14 points, but Eastern Christian fought back and tied the score on a steal and dunk by Senior Andrew Bennet! Graham made two free throws and Chery’s two put backs gave Garfield a 52-46 lead , but with 43 seconds left Junior Ben Parker’s put back followed by Bennet’s putback closed the gap to 52-50! Graham’s two free throws late proved to be the winning bucket! Eastern Christian was led by Bennet with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocked shots and Parker finished with 16 points!
