PASSAIC COUNTY QUARTERFINALS RESULTS: CLIFTON, WAYNE VALLEY, KENNEDY AND WAYNE HILLS ADVANCE!

It was a Passaic County day for Boys Basketball as the Quarterfinals took place today and in the process Clifton, Wayne Valley, Kennedy and Wayne Hills all advanced to the Semifinal round today!

Senior Ian Felix (right)scored 18 points, with 12 coming in the 2nd half to go with 7 rebounds, Senior Wendell Abellard(left) added 14 points, including 4″triples” and Senior Armani Brinson(center) quarterbacked his team for 13 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds to lead Clifton to a 57-40 win over Passaic! Clifton trailed at the end of the 1st quarter, but they outscored Passaic 20-3 in the second quarter to go ahead 29-15 at the half and take control!Junior Tyreek Smith led Passaic with 13 points and Senior Kendell Malloy added 9 points and 12 rebounds!

 

 

                                                                                Wayne Valley 45     Passaic Charter 26

Senior Taylor Jackson scored 14 points, Senior Mark Howell finished with 12 points and Senior Patrick Cronin added 11 to lead Wayne Valley to a 45-26 win over Paterson Charter! Wayne Valley did a good job of holding down Charter’s offense as they held them to 11 points in a 20-11 first half! Charter lost it’s top player Bashur byrd to an ankle injury during the contest and Wayne Valley was dealt a big blow as they lost Senior Anthony D’Arienzo to a dislocated shoulder early in the game! Juinior Zahire Robinson led Carter with 6 points and 8 rebounds! Wayne Valley will face Clifton in the Semifinals!

Senior Avante’ Gilbert scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and got tremendous help from Junior Jalen Hargrove(right) and Freshman Jay’Quan Briggs(far right) as they each added 10 points to help Kennedy hold off Hawthorne 53-47! Sophomore Miguel Melendez led Hawthorne with 16 points, while Senior T.J. Palmer added 15 points and 5 steals! Hawthorne cut the lead to two late 41-39, but a “triple” from Junior Deishon Harrison gave then a 44-39 lead! Hawthorne continued to fight back, but a couple of key offensive rebounds from Briggs late was huge for Kennedy! 

 

 

 

                                                                                      Wayne Hills  59   West Milford  54

Senior Jake Belli(far right) scored 28 points and Senior Pulast Thacker(right) added 13 points to lead Wayne Hills to a  59-54 win over West Milford! The game stayed close throughout, but Belli made big plays late and Thacker made key free throws late! West Milford was led by Senior Josiah Basket with 21 points and Kevin DeRaffele added 11 points! Wayne Hills will now meet Kennedy in the Semifinals!
