PASSAIC COUNTY FINALS PREVIEW: #1 EASTSIDE VS #2 DEPAUL

Just as we expected, the two best teams in the County will be getting after it once again! # 1 Seed Eastside and # 2 Seed DePaul will play a rematch of last years Final in which Eastside walked away with the Title at Wayne Valley H.S.!!

#1 SEED  EASTSIDE—— Eastside comes in to this game with an 11 game winning streak with their only lost of the season coming from Teaneck! The Ghost will be lead by their backcourt of Senior’s Jetor Brown(right) and Tommy Rivera! Sophomore wing Asem Johnson had a career high 34 points in the Semi-finals against Passaic! The Ghost’s have a good size front line in 6’4 Senior Selwyn Rodriguez, 6’4 Junior Quincy Jones, 6’4 Quatt’ier Jackson and 6’6 Sophomore Marquel Sheffield and are even deeper with the help of Senior guard Whalik Watson!

#2  SEED  DEPAUL—– DePaul are not very deep but their top three players were all key members of last years runner-up team! Senior Josh Marquez(right), Senior Sanders Green and Junior Juwaun Carter were all starters on last year’s team and all three have gotten become better players! Senior Tyler Hoskins, Sophomore Devon Shuster, Sophomore Donte Wise and Freshman Jordan Thomas will be key contributers and how they play may dictate the outcome!

ESSEX COUNTY PREVIEW: #1 SETON HALL PREP VS # 3 NEWARK EASTSIDE!!

#1 Seed Seton Hall Prep will go up against #3 Seed Newark Eastside at Essex County College Saturday at 5:00pm! They have met once this year with Prep winning 49-43 after trailing going into the 4th quarter 36-31! Outscored Eastside 18-7 to pull away!

#1 SEED  SETON HALL PREP—– Seton Hall Prep is led by Princeton bound recruit Spencer Weisz(right) the 6’5 do it all wing! He averages 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals a game and brings a high IQ to the contest! Senior Forward Tom Lacey is an athletic player that compliments Weisz well averaging 12.5 a game! Freshman Point Guard Temple Gibbs has been the key to their success handling the offense like a veteran player averaging 13.4 points a game with 4 assists! Junior Nasir Austin can  also cause problems for Newark Eastside as he can also run the offense! Prep is a patient team that runs a well drilled offense and if they can play at their pace will be hard to beat!

#3 SEED NEWARK EASTSIDE—– Newark Eastside has a lot of balance as they are led by Junior Ishmael SanogoPictured) who brings a double-double to the game! He averages 10,7 points and 11.2 rebounds a game! 6’7 Abdul Lewis(7.0pts, 6.7 rebs) and Senior Will Joyce( 7.8pts, 6.5 rebs) gives Newark Eastside a formidible front line! The backcourt is handled by Junior Akbar Hoffman( 8.1 pts), Senior Stephen McNair(5.5 pts, 1.7 stls) and Junior Jamar Gilbert( 5.9 pts, 1.3 stls) handle the backcourt! The Red Raiders already proved they can play with Prep as they are a good defensive team and also can play at a slow pace!

THREE-PEAT: TEANECK JAMBOREE CHAMPS 70-55!!!

009Ramapo College, Mahwah.N.J…. Teaneck became a Three-Peat Champion of the Bergen County Jamboree by defeating arch rival Hackensack 70-55! “Chip” games usually bring out the best in big time players and Senior Joel Hernandez(pictured) played like a big time player! The 6’2 wing scored 28 points,with 18 coming in the 1st half as Teaneck took 012a 34-18 lead! His play was the catalyst for the Teaneck win! Senior Shakir Lindsey quarterbacked the attack to the tune of 9 assists to go with 13 points as he went 11-14 from the free throwline! Leading 18-16 to end the 1st quarter,the Highwaymen outscored Hackensack 16-2 in the 2nd quarter as they held them without a field goal! Hackensack tried to make it a game in the 2nd half as they cut the lead down to 47-40 in the middle of the 4th, but Teaneck went on a 7-0 run to push the lead back up to 14 and held that margin the rest of the way! Junior Rashard Figures led Hackensack in scoring with 20 points, but had only 5 in the 1st half and never got it going consistently! Senior Jaimik Moore added 14 points and 9 rebounds and Senior Keon Lewis chipped in 10 points for Hackensack! Junior Myles McLeod added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots and Senior Devaunte Locadia came off the bench to score 8 big points!
