Hudson Catholic Reaches Parochial B Semifinals 68-37!

Jersey City, N.J….. Junior Reggie Cameron scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Junior Mike Young scored 13 points and pulled down 10 boards, Junior Raekwon Kelly scored 12 points and Junior Kavon Stewart(pictured) dished out 12 assists to go along with 6 points and 6 rebounds as Hudson Catholic moved to the semifinals of the North Parochial B states with a 68-37 win over Montclair Kimberley Academy! the #3 seeded Hawks will travel to play Morristown Beard in the semifinal game on Saturday! Senior Max Herrmann scored 15 points and Junior Matt Lane finished with 10 points for Montclair Kimberley Academy! 

Passaic Valley Advances With 56-47 Win Over Old Tappan!

Old Tappan,N.J……11th seeded Passaic Valley went into Old Tappan,seeded #3 and played well enough to advance in the North 1 Group 3 States quarterfinal! Senior Olumide Onajide(pictured) was a force for Passaic Valley! The 6’2 forward scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the game and was instrumental late when Old Tappan made their final run! After a slow 1st half in which P.V. led 18-17, Senior Jamir Lennon  hit back to back”triples” to start a spurt where Valley finished the 3rd quarter up 33-23! After a couple of drives to the bucket from Senior Jake Kopf, Valley got their biggest lead in the contest 43-26 with over 5 minutes left in the game! But Old Tappan tried to cut into the lead and cut it to 6 on a three point play by Junior Troy McLaughlin, but free throws by Onajide iced the contest! Lennon finished the game with 13 points and 4 assists and Sophomore Stefan Minic added 9! 5’10 Senior Ian Hanley was a big addition for Passaic Valley on the boards as he finished with 8 in the game! Mason Vialonga led Old Tappan with 15 points, McLaughlin added 13 and Senior Dan Brogan finished his career with 9 points! Junior Khalil Whitney grabbed 12 rebounds in the game for Old Tappan! Passaic Valley will meet the winner of the Garfield-West Milford winner friday!

Hackensack Moves On In States!

Hackensack,N.J……Hackensack came out slow, but eventually took control of the game in their 77-59 win over Montclair in the 1st round of the Section1 North Group 4 State game! The Comets had all five starters score in double figures led by Sophomore Rashard Figures 17 points! Junior Eugene Marshall finished with 14 points, Junior Chris Myers had 13, Junior Keyon Lewis scored 12 and Senior Mershan Monroe finished with 11! Montclair took a 12-9 lead going into the 2nd quarter, but Hackensack out scored them 25-12 in the stanza to give them a 34-24 halftime lead! The 2nd half was more of the same as Myers(pictured) played a tremendous game from the point guard position with 9 dimes, while Figures added 5! Monroe grabbed 8 rebounds in the contest and had 5 steals! Marshall had 4 blocked shots! Montclair was led by Talib Swan with 12 points! Hackensack will be visiting Morris Knolls in the next round!
