Paramus Catholic Beats DePaul 68-56!

Paramus, N.J……..Paramus Catholic is getting used to it’s transfer kids that are now eligible and from the looks of things, they have definitely upgraded as was proven in their 68-56 win over DePaul! Senior Mike Alford and Junior’s Kyle Menard and Anthony Rafes all sat the 30 days and now add more scoring and depth for P.C. Menard, out of Rockland County, New York particularly is a big time talent! He and Sophomore Jalen Henriquez led P.C. on the offensive end and Senior Vaughn Dudley provided the spark on the defensive end! Henriquez(left) led the scoring with 16 points and Menard(right) scored 15 points with 3 dimes and 3 blocked shots! Dudley had 4 steals to go with his 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists! Paramus Catholic took the lead early and led 32-22 at the end of the first half! DePaul cut the lead to 6 early in 3rd but could not get any closer the rest of the game! Alford scored 5 points with 3 assists and Rafes added 6 points and 4 boards for P.C. DePaul was led by Junior Joshua Marquez with 20 points, Senior Davon Jacobs with 13 points and 13 rebounds and Sophomore Juwuan Carter who went 10 for 11 from the foul line for all his points and grabbed 6 rebounds! Paramus Catholic also got good games from Freshman Marquel Sheffield and Senior Darius Christmas off the bench!

 In a Series of Profiles, Hoop Journal would like to acknowledge Kennedy H.S. all everything Senior guard Sammy Singletary! At the time of this post Sammy is the North Jersey leading scorer at 24.8 points a game, and Kennedy needs every bucket from him! The thing with Sammy is he can also defend! He’s from the same line of defender that the Knight’s have had in their past! Whatever his team needs this year he is more than willing to do and it’s that kind of attitude that let’s you know Singletary will be playing somewhere on the College level next season!

Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic Revue: Wood Ridge, Indian Hills And St. Joseph Wins!

Kennedy H.S. Paterson, N.J….. The Saturday games were cancelled due to snow, but the Sunday games took place and the eventual winners were Wood Ridge, Indian Hills and St. Joseph:

 

 

                                              WOOD RIDGE  70            UNION CITY  64

 

  Wood Ridge’s trio of Senior Vin O’Bierne, Junior Gary Whritenour and Junior Mike Gibney proved to be too much for a game Union City in their 70-64 win! Gibney(right) made 5″triples” enroute to 26 points, while Whritenour(left) made 4 treys on his way to 21 and O’Bieirne(center) scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds! It was a good contest as Union City matched Wood Ridge for four quarters! Senior Sayvon Williams led Union City with 15 points and 6 assists and got help from Junior Johnny Rodriguez(10pts,11rebs) and Junior Louie Salazano(11pts)! Junior Jamal Agurto hit a “triple”with 1:18 left but Gibney’s”triple” gave Wood Ridge the lead for good 67-64!

 

 

                                            INDIAN HILLS  55          PASSAIC VALLEY 50  O.T.

 

           In a slight upset, Indian Hills beat Passaic Valley 55-50 in overtime coming from a 10 point deficit to send the game into an extra session and pull off the win! Sophomore Ryan Warnet led Indian Hills with 25 points and Junior Robbie Cariddi tied the game with 4 seconds left with a”triple” to make it 47 all! Passaic Valley led most of the game , but got into major foul trouble and lost a few regulars late in the game! Senior Jamir Lennon led P.V. with 17 points and Senior Onajide Olajide finished with 9 points and 8 rebounds!

 

 

 

                                                    ST.JOSEPH  69              PASSAIC  62

 

          Senior Terrence McNair scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and Junior Pat Mensah(pictured) added 16 points with 7 rebounds and 3 assists as they maintained a lead most of the way and went on to defeat Passaic 69-62! Junior Ryan Rivera came off the bench to score 13 points for the Green Knights! St. Joseph took a 32 -20 halftime lead  Passaic cut the lead a few times,but could never get over the hump! Passaic was led by Senior Michael Brown with 26 points and Junior Rahsaan Johnson with 15 points and 13 rebounds!
