BERGEN COUNTY JAMBOREE: DON BOSCO PREP AND BERGEN CATHOLIC TO MEET IN “CHIP”!

Fairleigh Dickinson, Teaneck,N.J…. The Bergen County Jamboree took place tonight at FDU and the best County t008eams made it, but in the end Don Bosco Prep and Bergen Catholic will meet for the Jamboree Championship!

 Senior Chris Paul(far right) had his game face on from start to finish and it showed as he led Don Bosco Prep to a 67-57 win over St.Joseph and a spot in the Championship! Paul scored 26 points with 6 rebounds and was an impressive 13 for 13 fro009m the free throwline! Junior Marcellus Earlington added 15 points and Senior Manley Dorme(right) came off the bench to turn the game around on the defensive end finishing with 7 rebounds and 4 steals! St.joseph would not go away as Senior Chauncey Hawkins 7 straight points at the end of the 3rd help cut Prep’s lead to 42-41! Don Bosco Prep went 29 for 31 from the line in the game as Junior Ron Harper had 9 points(5-6 fts), Senior Charlie Babin added 8 points(6-6fts)! Hawkins finished with 22 points and 6 dimes and Senior Joe Radi and Isaac Hippolyte each scored 11 points!

Senior Gabe Stefanini(top right) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals and Sophomore Doug Edert(right) added 16 points, including 4 “triples” and Bergen Catholic had to withstand the shooting performance of Teaneck’s Ja’Quaye James to win 71-61!  Bergen led 56-50 with over 5 minutes left in the game but a “triple” from Edert and a follow up layup from Senior Taj Benning pushed the lead up to 61-50 and they never looked back! Bergen needed all they could because James was on a mission as he made 8 “triples”on his way to 34 points! Senior Leondre Washington added 17 points and 10 rebounds, but Teaneck only got 10 more points from it’s other players! Bergen got a strong effort from Sophomore Zach Fremantle who ad013ded 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots! Benning finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals! The Championship will be played Friday  February 24th at 7pm!
