BERGEN COUNTY JAMBOREE: DON BOSCO PREP SQUEEZES OUT A 56-54 WIN OVER RAMAPO!
Ramapo College Mahwah,NJ….. Ramapo put the pressure on Don Bosco Prep and took a lead in the 1st half 31-23! Senior Matt Grassi scored 13 points in the half and Ramapo held Prep to 7 field goals! But Prep fought back and started 2nd half on an 11-0 run behind the play of Junior guard Amani Craddock(right) and tied the score at 31 on two free throws by George Washington commit Paul Jorgensen(left) and took the lead on a layup by Senior Jack Ely! Don Bosco Prep took a 42-38 lead into the 4th quarter! Then, unfortunately the game became marred with fouls and became a foul shooting contest! Jorgensen went 5 of 7 down the stretch and made it 53-48 with 16.2 in the game! Sophomore Matt Latka hit a”triple” to cut the lead to 53-51 with 9.2 left! Jorgensen then made one of two free throws to make it 54-51! Ramapo had a chance to tie the game but a turnover resulted in Prep Junior Matt Stranzl being fouled and making two free throws to make it a 56-51 lead! Ramapo Senior Mike Gostkowski bank three from near halfcourt provided the final score! Craddock and Ely each scored 12 points for Prep and Jorgensen chipped in 11 including 9 for 11 from the foulline! Ramapo was led by Grassi with 20 points and Latka with 16! The top seeded Don Bosco Prep team will meet the #2 seeded Teaneck Highwaymen!
