BERGEN COUNTY JAMBOREE: HACKENSACK, BERGEN CATHOLIC, OLD TAPPAN AND DON BOSCO PREP ADVANCE!

Tenafly H.S., Tenafly,N.J….The Bergen County Jamboree took place Sunday with four games played! Hackensack, Bergen Catholic, Old Tappan and Don Bosco Prep advance to the quarterfinals!

                                                                                   HACKENSACK  74     PASCACK VALLEY  65

Junior Atiba Taylor(right)was too much to handle for Pascack Valley in Hackensack’s 74-65 win! Taylor scored 36 points, pulled down 8 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and had 2 steals to pace Hackensack! He then knocked down 8 straight free throws down the stretch! The game was highly competitive throughout as Pascack Valley lead at the half 33-28 and Hackensack took the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter on a “triple” by Junior Toren Portee to make it 49-46! Senior Bryce Drakeford scored 16 points with 5 steals for Hackensack and Junior Razeyah Surrell came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 7 rebounds! Pascack Valley was led by it’s big three as Junior Alex Lin and Senior Legend Dominguez each scored 18 points and Senior Matt Vasel added 16 points! Dominguez also dished out 6 assists in the contest!

Bergen Catholic’s backcourt duo of Fairfield commit Taj Benning(right) and Columbia commit Gabe Stefanini(left) led Bergen Catholic to a 69-39 win over Bergen Tech! Benning scored 14 points and Stefanini added 13  as B.C. took a 35-21 halftime lead and extended it to 54-26 at the end of the 3rd! Bergen Catholic had 13 players score in the contest! Bergen Tech was led by Senior Steven Lai with 14 points and Junior Alex Whang with 10 points!

 

                                                                                             OLD TAPPAN  57       RIVER DELL  35

Senior Justin Minaya(right) scored 16 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 4 assists with 2 blocks and 2 steals to lead Old Tappan to a 57-35 win over River Dell! Old Tappan won the game on the defensive end as it held River Dell to 13 1st half points, leading 24-13! Senior Kevin Eifert scored 13 points and 9 points from Senior Eric Slater! Senior Matt Monaghan led river Dell with 8 points and 11 rebounds!

Eleven players scored as Don Bosco Prep defeated Tenafly 69-39! Senior’s Chris Paul and Charlie Babin each scored 9 points to lead Prep! Paul(right) punctuated his night with a tremendous dunk down the lane! Prep led 34-12 at the half and never looked back! Junior Marcellus Earlington and Senior Chris Lovisolo each scored 8 points for Prep! Tenafly was led by Senior Ethan Schiffman with 10 points and Sophomore Eric Berschadsky added 9!
