BERGEN COUNTY JAMBOREE: NORTH ARLINGTON, DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD AND ST.MARY’S MOVE ON!

Bergen Catholic H.S. Oradell,N.J…..Gardenstatehoops was at Bergen Catholic for the first round of the Bergen County Jamboree to see three games on the day! North Arlington, Dwight-Englewood and St.Mary’s will play another week!

 

                                                                   NORTH ARLINGTON  65    QUEEN OF PEACE  54  

These schools are in the vicinity of eachother by about 2 minutes so it was a rivalry type game between North Arlington and Queen Of Peace! Senior guard Edgar Caranza(right) led North Arlington to a 65-54 win as with the scored tied at 42 entering the 4th quarter, North Arlington outscored Queen Of Peace 23-12 to win going away! Caranza scored 18 points and quarterbacked the North Arlington offense to perfection late! Senior Kevin Cerqueira scored 14 of his 16 points in the 2nd half and Sophomore Isaac Aguiar scored 13 of his 18 points in the 1st half to help North Arlington claim area bragging rights! Queen Of Peace had numerous unforced turnovers in the game and it proved to be their downfall! Senior Jeremy Joseph was solid as he had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Freshman Bryan Henderson scored 12 points on 4″triples” and Junior Ibn Loyal chipped in 9 points with 11 boards! Despite the game being close most of the way, Queen Of Peace only lead of the game was at 47-46 as Loyal scored on a follow up off a missed free throw! North Arlington will now move on to the next round against Bergen Catholic!

 

                                                                     DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD  73   RUTHERFORD  54

Dwight-Englewood’s offense looked extremely crisp in their win over Rutherford! With a slow 1st quarter and the game tied at 12, D-E outscored them 42-19 in the next two quarters to take a 54-31 lead entering the 4th! Freshman Tyson Etienne(far right) led Dwight Englewood with 17 points with 5 assists, Sophomore Lucas Warhaftig  scored 11 and , Sophomore Xavier Wilson added 10 points and Freshman Jordan McKoy(right) scored 10 points, dished out 4 dimes and added 4 steals as nine players scored for the Bulldogs! Rutherford was led by Senior Regan Scanlon with 23 points and 13 rebounds! Dwight Englewood will now meet #1 seed Ramapo next week!

 

 

 

                                                                     ST. MARY’S   57    BOGOTA  42

Sophomore Marc Dadika scored 14 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 6 shots and Senior Tim Klarmann scored 14 points with 4 steals to lead St.Mary’s to a 57-42 win over a tough Bogota team! Junior Nassir Walker added 12 points before fouling out as St. Mary’s took over the game in the 2nd half after trailing 22-21 to end the 1st half! St.Mary’s outscored Bogota 24-11 in the 3rd to take control of the contest! Bogota was led by Sophomore guard Deiker Padrino with 16 points! St.Mary’s will now meet Ramsey next week!
