BERGEN COUNTY JAMBOREE: TEANECK AND BERGEN CATHOLIC ADVANCE!

Ramapo University, N.J…..Two quarterfinal games played today saw Teaneck and Bergen Catholic advance to the Bergen Jamboree Tournament Semifinals!

This score was a bit shocking as Teaneck took a close game and blew it wide open in the 3rd quarter in defeating Ramapo 75-54! Sophomore Leondre Washington who had carried Teaneck in the 1st half in scoring 16 points picked up his third foul with 6:01 left in the 3rd quarter and only up 38-31! Seemed like a perfect chance for Ramapo to get back in the game and make there run! What happened was an unexpected 16-0 run led by Freshman Ja’Quaye James(right) and Junior Nick Whitaker! By the end of the 3rd Teaneck had taken a 61-36 lead! Washington finished the game with 23 points and James added 18 points and 5 assists! Whitaker(left) was a pleasant surprise for Teaneck as he finished the game with 16 points and 13 rebounds! Ramapo was led by Senior Matt Capozzi with 13 points, while Junior Matt Latka and Freshman Jason Oppler each scored 10 points! Teaneck will play the winner of Don Bosco Prep and Ridgewood!

Bergenfield was not going away and it took a big late run by Bergen Catholic to pull off the win! Bergenfield held their last lead at 42-41 in the 4th quarter, but Bergen went on a 18-3 run to finish the game and give them a 59-45 win! St.Joseph commit PierFrancisco Oliva(right) led Bergen Catholic with 29 points and 13 rebounds with 8 of his rebounds offensive! Senior Justin Salem(left) added 17 points as he and Oliva combined for 46 points of Bergen Catholic’s 59 points! Senior Herbie Cabral led Bergenfield in scoring with 17 points, including 5″triples”! Senior James Hamilton added 9 points and Junior Jovani Haskins chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds for Bergenfield! Bergen Catholic will play the winner of the St.Joseph- Cresskill winner!
