BRISCOE TAKES OVER “BIG STRICK CLASSIC”!!
Gaucho Gym Bronx, New York…. 2015 guard Isaiah Briscoe is well known around the country as one of the top players in his class as his Rivals #15 ranking would suggest. But the idea is always to make your name in New York, especially if you are from New Jersey!
Briscoe is a Playaz AAU player and has watched his fellow alum like Myles Mack and Miles Davis(M&M Boys), Kyle Anderson(SLOW-MO) and Reggie Cameron(The Sniper) get New York nicknames from playing in the city! Tonight, Briscoe who was New Jersey’s only representative earned his stripes! With the score tied at 76 to end the 3rd quarter Briscoe led a New York attack that accounted for 50 points in the 4th to pull away from the U.S.A. team 126-110! Briscoe put on a dribbling and passing exhibition in the quarter as he made shots or found teammates for dunks and layups! He finished with 12 points and 10 dimes but the numbers truly don’t tell how he stole the show! He earned the nickname “Must See TV” during the game as the crowd stood every time he touched it and the emcee of the event demanded he get the rock! His play inspired his talented teammates to pick up their games and it soon became a New York type of game! Cheick Diallo scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Syracuse commit Chris McCullough scored 19 points as he was the recipient of many of Briscoe’s passes! 2015 big Thomas Bryant had 15 points, New York’s #1 player Isaiah Whitehead scored 16 and Terry Larrier added 12! Diallo’s game was impressive as he had to go up against Stephen Zimmerman who is considered by many the top player in the 2015 class. Zimmerman scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the U.S.A. Kelly Oubre led the U.S. team with 25 points and Ladarrius Chester added 17 points! Briscoe(far right) and Diallo(2nd right) were player’s of the game for New York, while Zimmerman(far left) and Ahmed Hill(2nd left) were U.S.A. player’s of game while Oubre(center) was voted outstanding player for the weekend!
Chester won the slam dunk contest, showing tremendous athleticism! Whitehead won the Three-point shooting contest! Rivals #6 ranked player, Center Myles Turner did not play due to injury! New Jersey’s Rashard Figures and Tyus Battle did not attend….
