COACHES VS CANCER HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT: WAYNE HILLS AND RAMAPO ADVANCE TO “CHIP”!
Ramapo, N.J……The Coaches vs Cancer Holiday Tournament had their Semi-Final matchup as Wayne Hills faced DePaul and Ramapo played against Passaic County Tech! The end result is Wayne Hills will meet Ramapo Friday for the Coaches vs Cancer Championship!
WAYNE HILLS 83 DEPAUL 74
This entertaining game featured high level offense from some of Passaic Counties top players! Wayne Hills Junior guard Joey Belli’s 17 2nd half points and 24 for the game with 8 dimes and Senior Justin Hodge’s(right) 14 points , including a back breaking bucket late ignited Wayne Hills to a 83-74 win over a young, talented DePaul team! Maybe it was great offense or a lack of defense, but the 2nd half saw a display of scoring from both teams! The DePaul Freshman duo of Elijah Everett-Hutchins and Zion Bethea combined for 46 points, including 30 points in the 2nd half to help DePaul overcome a couple double digit deficits and cut the lead 73-69 with 1:04 left in the game! Wayne Hills took a 41-28 halftime lead as Junior Pat Gilmore scored the last 9 of his 14 points in the last 3 minutes of the stanza! Junior Jason Modak scored 16 points and Junior Justin Wills added 14 points for Wayne! Senior Malcolm McLeod scored 13 points and Sophomore guard Eddie Davis added 11 for DePaul! Everett-Hutchins finished with 24 points and Bethea 22!
RAMAPO 57 PASSAIC COUNTY TECH 38
Junior Jason Oppler(far right) scored 16 points and Sophomore K.C. Hunt(right)scored 14 points to lead Ramap
o to a 57-38 win over Passaic County Tech! Oppler did most of his damage in the 1st half, scoring 12 of his points before intermission as Ramapo took a 25-16 halftime lead! Ramapo led throughout the contest! Sophomore Taknowa Thomas led Tech with 17 points!
