DON BOSCO PREP DEFEATS ST. PETERS PREP 60-59 IN 2OT’S: WIN THE NON-PUBLIC A NORTH CHAMPIONSHIP!

014New Brunswick, N.J…. Senior Matt Herasme’s 2 free throws with .6 seconds left in the second overtime lifted Don Bosco Prep to a 60-59 win over St.Peters Prep!

Shayne Simon’s layup with 12 seconds left gave SPP a 59-58 lead with 12 seconds left in the 2nd overtime!It set the stage for Herasme to get fouled and hit the decisive free throws! The game was intense from the start as St.Peters Prep proved to be a worthy opponent! Don Bosco Prep had a small lead for much of the game, but St Peters finally took the lead 39-38 on a layup by Army commit Brendan Thiele with 4:24 left in the 4th quarter! Down 48-45 in regulation Herasme(pictured) had his first016 heroic moment with a “triple” with 2 seconds left to send the game to it’s first overtime! Rutgers commit Ron Harper started the 1st overtime with a layup and Herasme hit two free throws to put Don Bosco up 52-48 but Thiele’s two free throws and layup tied the contest! Free throws by DBP’s Senior Mike Concannon and SPP’s Senior Mark Walker sent the game into it’s final overtime! Don Bosco Prep, who had to play both overtimes and the last 3:50 of the 4th with their star player Marcellus Earlington due to fouling out was led by Harper’s 25 points! herasme finished with 15 points and Earlington with 12 points! St.Peters Prep was led by Thiele with 19 points and Walker with 17! Don bosco Prep will play Camden Catholic Saturday March 10th in Toms River! 

 

Farewell: Garednstatehoops would like to acknowledge St.Peters Prep Seniors! Brendan Thiele, Shayne Simon, Mark Walker and Dimitri Plexidas were key components to Prep’s success this Season! They have brought back the winnin019g culture that Prep had been used to! These Seniors are stars and their futures are very bright! Thiele(pictured) and Plexidas on the basketball court and Simon and Walker on the football field! Gardenstatehoops would like to congratulate these players and wish for the best in their futures!
