EIFERT “TRIPLE” AT BUZZER LIFTS OLD TAPPAN OVER WAYNE VALLEY 46-43!

006 Junior Kevin Eifert’s “triple” with no seconds on the clock lifted #6 seed Old Tappan to a 46-43 win over #3 seed Wayne Valley!008

Old Tappan led for most of the contest as they lead by as much as 10 points in the 1st half and took a 31-23 lead at the half! Wayne Valley fought back in the 3rd quarter and finally took a lead 41-40 on a “triple” from Senior Chris Khayat! Junior Justin Minaya made one of two from the line to end the 3rd tied at 41! The 4th quarter was a strategic match up between both teams as Old Tappan and Wayne Valley both scored two points the entire quarter until Eifert’s (right)heroic shot at the buzzer! Khayat had a putback off an offensive rebound to give Wayne Valley a 43-41 lead! Senior Lucas Casamento tied the game with less than three minutes in the game to tie it at 43! Old Tappan ran a set that was defended and called another timeout with 1.3 seconds in the game! Casamento found Eifert all by himself and he proceeded to knock do007wn the game winner! Minaya(center) led Old Tappan with 13 points and Casamento(bottom right) and Eifert each added 11 points! Valley was led by Khayat with 18 points and 8 rebounds! Old Tappan will now face Teaneck Friday!

 

 

 

FAREWELL NOTES: Gardenstatehoops would like to acknowledge the Highschool basketball career’s of W004ayne Valley’s Senior’s Nick Goodwin, Nick Giuliano, Alex Kokos, John Zarka, Chris Khayat and Brian Larranaga! It has been a pleasure following these Seniors career’s as they have won an enormous amount of games for the school! Goodwin(pictured right) will get it done on the next level on the gridiron as he is an outstanding football player! Giuliano(bottom right) has a great chance to find a school at the next level. He is a crafty guard who can knock down perimeter shots! Kokos will be on the baseball diamond as he is a tremendous baseball player! Zarka had a solid Senior season becoming the glue on the defensive end and hitting clutch three’s throu003ghout the year!  Khayat and Larranaga were solid role players this year! Gardenstatehoops would like to congratulate these players and their families on their tremendous highschool careers and the best in the future!
