ESSEX COUNTY SEMIFINALS: SETON HALL PREP AND NEWARK EASTSIDE TO MEET IN “CHIP”!

West Orange H.S., West Orange, N.J…. The Essex County Finals will have Seton Hall Prep and Newark Eastside as each won their Semifinal games convincingly and will see each other Saturday!

Senior Zach Keller(pictured) scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Seton Hall Prep to a 61-46 win over Westside! Senior Ryan Toohers added 12 points and Senior JJ Jenkins chipped in 11 for Seton Hall as they help overcome Notre Dame commit T.J. Gibbs not being 100%! Gibbs played with a hand injury and was not his usual self, but his teammates more than picked up the slack! Prep led 32-25 at the half,as Westside hung around but could never get any closer, despite the play of Westside’s Senior guard Isiah Reyes who got to the bucket at will enroute to a 23 point effort!

Newark Eastside looked impressive in their handling of East Orange 64-42! Sophomore Hassan Ceesay(picture) scored  15 of his 20 points in the 1st half as Newark Eastside took a 35-21 lead and never looked back! Sophomore Jahid Jenkins added 10 points and Junior Elijah Olaniyi scored 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds! Eastside also got a strong all around game from Freshman Nas Amos who quarterbacked the team to numerous open looks! Senior Jordan Taylor led East Orange with 9 points on 3 “triples”! Newark Eastside had 10 players score in the contest!
