ESSEX COUNTY TOURNAMENT RESULTS: NEWARK EASTSIDE AND MONTCLAIR IMMACULATE ADVANCED TO “CHIP”!

West Orange, N.J….. The Essex County Tournament Semifinals took place at West Orange Highschool and in some exciting action Newark Eastside and Montclair Immaculate both moved on to the Essex County Championship game!

In a action packed game Newark Eastside held on in Double Overtime to defeat Seton Hall Prep 73-67! Senior Nasir Johnson(top right) scored 23 of his 27 points at the half with 8 coming in the  second overtime, Senior Anas Amos(right) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals and Senior Mikah Johnson added 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Newark Eastside! Seton Hall Prep was a tough out as they were led by Senior Ashton Miller with 26 points, including a jumper to send the game to the second overtime! Sophomore Giye Jenkins added 15 points and Junior Mike Curran chipped in 13!

In a balanced attack, Montclair Immaculate defeated a feisty Westside team 64-51! Junior Elijah Everett(center) led I.C. with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Sophomore A’mare Marshall added 14 points, Junior Zion Bethea(far right) chipped in 12 points and 3 steals and Junior Nick Jourdain(right) finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and a crowd pleasing tomahawk dunk over a defender that took the starch out of the Westsiders! I.C. led most of the game and fought off numerous Westside comeback attempts! Westside was led by Senior James Bell and senior Marquail Hardiman with 15 points apiece! 

 

Immaculate will face Newark Eastside Saturday 3pm at Essex County College in Newark!
