ESSEX COUNTY TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS: IMMACULATE CONCEPTION AND NEWARK EASTSIDE IN FINALS!

West Orange H.S. West Orange, N.J…. The Essex County Semifinals were played and had Immaculate Conception and Newark Eastside prepared to meet in the finals!

Trailing at the half 24-20, Immaculate Conception seemed flat and needed a spark! They got it in the 2nd half from Freshman Amare Marshall and Sophomore Zion Bethea!  Marshall(far right) scored 10 big points and his play in the 3rd quarter ignited Immaculate to a 54-45 win over Seton Hall Prep! Bethea(right) scored 8 of his 10 points in the 2nd half and his energy on the defensive end also was key! Syracuse recruit Jalen Carey led IC with 15 points and 4 steals! Seton Hall was led by Senior Alex Imegwu with 17 points and Junior Ashton Miller with 16 as Prep had to play without star wing Jabri Abdur-Rahim!

Senior Shamir Johnson layup before the half gave Newark Eastside the lead then Sophomore Micah Johnson(far right) took over in the 2nd half as Newark Eastside pulled away from Newark Central in a 63-43 win! Johnson scored 17 of his 19 points after the half as Eastside outscored Central 25-10 to take a 51-34 lead to end the 3rd! Senior Deandre Speight(right) added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Johnson scored 14 points! Central was led by Senior Dee-End McRae with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Sophomore Zarique Nutter with 12 points!

Immaculate  Conception will meet Newark Eastside Saturday at Westside H.S. at 1pm!
