                                                                                                           Diary Of A Balllaaaaaa!!

Hello basketball world! I am Leondre “JellyFam” Washington, 5’11”,155 lbs. Teaneck High School guard. First of all, I would like to thank Orlando and Garden State Hoops for allowing me to share some of my aspects of my basketball life with everyone. as you all know the season is finally here and every team has 0ne goal… to win a championship. my teammates and I have been in the gym everyday (even on weekends)trying to get better not only as a team but individually as well. I’m thankful for the coaching staff here at Teaneck High School for making sure we are prepared for the season. To me, each coach has different skill sets they bring to the table. Coach Smart seems laid back but he really gets on us in practice and makes sure we are always working hard. Coach Reese is kind of like the hype coach. He will make sure you’re tuned in and ready. But also he will call you out and embarrass you if you are not doing your niche. Coach Rowland is the “workout guy”. He trains the core kids to make sure we get extra shots up and givcs great advice from the offensive side of the ball. Coach D Star(Wright) is kind of like all of those coaches put together. I’ve been playing with him since I was like 13. He works us out, motivates us, and makes every body laugh with his humor. Also, I’m very thankful for the family I have to support me. My mother pushes me everyday, my brother who motivates me and always has suggestions for me to improve, and my father who can’t make it to any of my games but that just fuels the fire to my game. I do everything for him. If you have been following Teaneck basketball for the last 4 years, you know that we’ve won counties 4 years in a row and lost in the state semis 4 years in a row too. Last year I felt we were going to finally get Coach Rome over the hump but we failed. All this summer I’ve been working hard to have a shot at the Group 3 State Championship. This year our team is very different. We are very young and inexperienced yet talented. Ja’Quaye James our starting guard who is only a freshman will help lead our team this year. I love that kid like a brother. We are more than best friends if you ask me. GeAni Bannerman one of my close friends will help lead the charge and Zach Olukanni as well. We took a big loss at the beginning of the year losing Mj Richardson to Hackensack High School. That’s another one of my brothers whom I love but he’s now on the other side. And he’s going to get the work just like the rest. Our goal this year is not to only win the Bergen County Championship 5 years in a row but to finally accomplish being Group 3 State Champions. My goal is not to only win a State chip but score 1,000 points and kill every guard I play against. Every since 8th grade summer I’ve been taking names of top PG’s so I’m looking forward to continuing that. Our first game is Friday the 19th against Tenafly. The next day we have a game against Gill St. Bernard who features an old friend in Tyus Battle. We played together in 5th and 6th grade and I enjoyed playing with him as well as Jagan Mosley, Jamir Harris, and Nate Pierre-Louis. That game will be played at West Orange High School @ 4:50 a part of the Hoop Group Tip-off Classic. Another goal I have is to make principal’s honor roll. I  just missed it last marking period with one B, but I’m trying my best to get to that. I want to shout out my JellyFam bros, Jahvon Quinerly, Ja’Quaye James, Isaiah Washington, Sid Wilson, Jordan Walker, and Pedro Marquez. Also my best friend Chris Raman. I love y’all. But a big shout out to Orlando for letting me do this. Thank you. I’ll talk to y’all soon! #Teaneck5Peat#CBG#Letsgetachip#Jaaaaaaaa lol

Thanks,

Leondre Washington
