001As the 2019-20 Highschool Basketball Season quickly approaches, here is the Gardenstatehoops North Jersey Pre-Season Top 25!

 

1.)  BERGEN CATHOLIC—- Bergen is not only considered the best team in North Jersey, but one of the best teams in the State! Led by Notre Dame commit Matt Zona, Bergen has to overcome the lost of two Division 1 players in Center Zach Freemantle(Xavier) and guard Doug Edert( St. Peters Univ.)! Sophomore guard Will Richardson has established himself as one the best up and coming players in the State and guard Raejon Figures is a high level College ready Senior! Look for Senior Jahseim Davis and Sophomore Julian Brown to be big factors!

 

2.) ST. JOSEPH REGIONAL— Joe’s has the best guard combo in the area in Senior Nazir Williams, Daniel Lans and  Dyree Rogers! They will go as far as the play of Ansley Almanor, the 6’6 stretch 4 Senior and the play of their bench when the guard trio are getting rest!

 

3.) HACKENSACK—-Senior Seth Shariff-Brown and Senior Kevin Mateo are a dynamic pair that can score at will as Hackensack has a nice combination of experience and youth! Sophomore Shawn Reckley is expected to have a breakout year and Senior Amire Walker will quarterback this talented team, which has depth off the bench!

 

4.) DON BOSCO PREP– Senior Myles Ruth is one of the best players in the area and is a Division 1 talent and Senior Brendan Mykalcios is as good a shooter as there is in North Jersey! Senior Isaiah Williams will also be looked upon to be a big factor for Prep!

 

5.) KENNEDY— The Knights are one of the deepest teams in the area as they can go 10 deep without losing a lot! Senior’s Jalen Hargrove, Deishon Harrison and Mark Heber as well as Sophomore Jayquan Briggs  are the key components on the squad! Sophomore Yasen Crawford will contribute offensively, while Senior Bre’Quan Moore will be a key player on the defensive end!

 

6.) FAIRLAWN— Fairlawn has as good a trio as their is in the area as Senior’s Darius Sohokish, Or Sundjyvsky and John Burek have been fixtures in the Fairlawn lineup for the last 3 years! How Fairlawn’s depth holdsup will be the key to their success!

 

7.)  RAMSEY— 6’8 Senior Sean Hansen, the Cornell commit is the catalyst to this tough Ramsey team! Senior Jaden Quinerly is a top level point guard who makes Ramsey’s offense go, and Senior Grant Holbrook is a solid third option for Ramsey!

 

  8.) RIDGEWOOD– Ridgewood will be it’s regular tough team as Senior Devin Johnson and Senior Matt Favieri will be the key catalysts! Ridgewood has a lot of depth on their roster with D.J. Sullivan, John Kearny and Junior Devin Oscher!

 

9.)  RAMAPO— Ramapo is one of the hardest working teams in the area and will bring it every night! Senior Max Pernetti will take the mantle piece as the go to guy for the Green Raiders! Junior Sean Clapp, Junior Jack Levy and Junior Colin McKenna will be key components for Ramapo!

 

10.)   PATERSON CHARTER— Solid team who should make a legitimate run in Passaic County this Season! PC will be led by the Senior trio of Zahire Robinson, Marquis Harris and Sadiki Miller, while Junior Jamir Bellfield, Junior Jahar Pierce and Michael Ferguson and Senior Caleb Ruffin round out a very deep Charter squad!

 

11.)  TEANECK– The lost of Sophomore DeSean Lecque will hurt the Highwayman, but Teaneck has players that will get their chance to shine! Senior Elian Garcia and Junior D.J. Simpson will be looked upon to lead this new group Teaneck squad!

 

12.) DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD— Sophomore’s Jayden Lemond and  David Mager will be looked on to lead Dwight-Englewood who has lost big time players Jordan McKoy and Judah McIntyre to graduation! Senior’s Harrison Ruff and Aiden Pink will be looked upon to be big contributors!

 

13.)  WAYNE HILLS—- Senior Brett Woods will be the key player for Wayne Hills and 6’5 Senior Carter Lewis will be looked  to bring big contribution for a team that has lost 4 starters from last year! 

 

14.)  SADDLE RIVER DAY— Senior Connor Cyran and Senior Dylan Besserer will be the focal points for Saddle River Day this year!

 

15.) DEPAUL—- Senior John O’Reilly and Senior Anthony Corbo will spearhead DePaul’s attack this year! Sophomore A’Khoury Lyde and Freshman Irv Watkins as well as Senior Nick Bayuelo will be major contributors!

 

16.) PARAMUS CATHOLIC—- Senior Jordan Morris is a solid guard with scoring ability, while 6’6 Junior Derrick Bueno should be a key player  and Senior Jaime Vargas and Junior Niko Ruffin will be key parts!

 

17.)  PATERSON EASTSIDE— Eastside has a chance to surprise as they will be a hard playing team ready to compete! Senior Joshua Cash and Junior Levi Holton are the main players for this team, which also will have Sophomore’s Cosmier Harmon and Oshamier Majette, Freshmen’s Bryce Stokes and Preston Brown and Senior Daizon Pauldo!

 

18.) HASBROUCK HEIGHTS—-  Junior Kunga Tsering is a skilled talent and he will have to show it to keep Height’s in the Top 20! Senior Matteo Ochoa and Junior Steven Faussette are returners that can help!

 

 19.)  PASSAIC—Passaic has a load of talent and it’s about putting it together! Junior Antrel Monroe is as good as they have in Passaic County and Senior Kendell Malloy and Senior Koby Sylvester are top of the line players! 

 

20.)  MANCHESTER– Sophomore Asim Jones and Sophomore Jashair Johnson both had strong Freshman years and will look to expand on their success last year! Will need help from Senior’s Shaquan Stewart and Kris McKoy!

 

21.)  GARFIELD—More talent than people realize! Senior’s Nakie Graham and Senior Elias Chery are tough around the basket, while Junior Zack Cook can score the ball from the perimeter!

 

22.)  ELMWOOD PARK—Senior Nick Williams is as good as there is in the area and has no problem scoring the basketball! Elmwood Park will have Senior’s Raydel Nivar and Ali Sulfan to help Williams take them to a higher level!

 

23.)  DUMONT— Junior Dominick Barlow has the chance to become a Division 1 player as he tries to take Dumont to a level not seen by the school! He will need help from Junior Josh Fernandez and Senior Andrew Moldez! 

 

24.) DWIGHT MORROW— Senior Andres Fulgencio and Junior Chris Dark will be the main cogs for any success that Englewood will have this year!

 

25.)  PASSAIC COUNTY TECH– Senior Hassan High leads a Senior laden Tech team that should have depth! Jeremiah Monroe, Carlos Ortiz, Jahmeel Wallace and Miguel Torres will all be key contributors!
