GARFIELD OVERTAKES GLEN ROCK 59-58 IN OT!!

  Garfield was down as much as 16 and trailed going into the 4th quarter to Glen Rock 43-30! Then they turned the defensive pressure up! Garfield’s Junior laden squad held Glen Rock without a bucket for the first three minutes of the fourth! Junior’s Ned Bakic(14 pts), Kevin Buron(13 pts), Travis Bennett(12 pts), Tariq Cheatom(11 pts) and Ricardo Reyes were the main players in Garfield’s comeback! With 1:07 left in the game Bennett steal and putback cut glen Rock’s lead to 51-49! Senior Jeff Ross hit a free throw to extend the lead to 52-49 but Buron(pictured), who made big plays down the stretch hit a”triple”to send the game into overtime! Buron’s steal and assist to Cheatom gave Garfield it’s first lead of the game 54-52 and after an exchange of buckets had it 56-54, Buron made a steal and dunk with 33 seconds left to give Garfield a 58-54 lead! Glen Rock’s Junior Khalil Williams who finished with 20 points in the game hit a three with 14 seconds to cut the lead to 58-57! Cheatom hit a free throw to make it 59-57, but Glen Rock could only convert one of two free throws with 3 seconds left to fall by the final margin! Senior Jeff Ross scored 12 points for Glen Rock and Senior Zach Lucca added 9 points!
