HACKENSACK TAKES JINGLE BELLS JUBILEE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

019Don Bosco Tech Paterson, N.J….. The Playaz Basketball Club and Paterson Rec sponsored Jingle Bells Jubilee Holiday Tournament had a great week of basketball and saw Hackensack take the 2017 Jingle Bells Crown!

 

                                                                            HACKENSACK  60             RAMAPO  52  (CHIP)

Hackensack had to fight off a strong 1st half from Ramapo to pull off the Jingle Bells Championship! Ramapo came out fast and took a 15-8 1st quarter lead and a 26-20 halftime lead !! Hackensack came out strong in the 2nd half, particularly on the defensive end! They held Ramapo to 8 points in the quarter and took a 39-34 lead at the end of the 3rd! Youngstown St. commit Atiba Taylor and Senior B.J. Saliba were the catalysts and spearheaded the comets onslaught021! Despite taking control Ramapo did not quit and competed until the end! Saliba’s jumper with 3:38 left in the 3rd gave Hackensack it’s first lead of the game 31-301 Senior John Whooley answered with two buckets, but Saliba, Senior Razeyah Surrell  and Taylor scored to end the quarter and put Hackensack up for good! Taylor was voted Player Of The Game as he scored 15 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 7 assists! Saliba was voted MVP of the Tournament as he scored 18 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 3 assists!  K.C.                                                                                      TEANECK  82           KENNEDY  50   (3RD PLACE)

In the 3rd place game, Senior Ja’Quaye James scored 15 of his 20 points in the 3rd quarter to blow open the game and take a 60-32 lead and coast to a 82-50 blowout! Jam016es added 6 dimes to go with his point total! Senior Aaron Sanchez(right) scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Senior Jaylen Dawson added 11 points and 6 rebounds and Senior Sage Robinson chipped in 11 points with 6 rebounds for Teaneck! Kennedy was led in scoring by Senior Jaylen Colon with 13 points and Sophomore Daeshawn Harrison added 10 points! Senior Jamir Lattimore grabbed 9 rebounds with 4 assists and 4 steals for the Knights!

 

 

                                                                                         POPE JOHN  66    WAYNE HILLS  64  (5th place Game)

Trailing by as much as 13 points in the 2nd half Pope John came back to defeat Wayne Hills 66-64! In a game that looked in hand for Hills, Pope John outscored them 21-6 in the 4th quarter to complete the comeback!  Sacred Heart comm014it Aaron Clarke scored 27 points to lead Pope’s charge and even though Junior Eddie Davis also had a solid 11 point, 8 assist game the primary reason for Pope John’s win was the play from their supporting cast! Sophomore Francisco Paulino(far right) had a strong game down low scoring 13 points and pulling dow015n 10 rebounds! Freshman DiAndre South(near right) scored 9 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, but more importantly did a good defensive job on Wayne Hills star guard Joey Belli in the 4th quarter! Junior Tahji Hooks was active and scored what proved to be the game winning basket! Clarke tied the game at 64 after a bucket from Belli put them up 64-62! A steal and Hooks layup prved to be the game winner! Belli finshed with 25 points and 7 assists, Senior Justin Wills added 12 points and Senior Jason Modak chipped in 10 points with 9 rebounds for Wayne Hills!
