HOOP GROUP SHOWCASE: PATERSON EASTSIDE, DON BOSCO PREP, GILL ST.BERNARD AND SETON HALL PREP WIN!

 West Orange,N.J… The Hoop Group Showcase had four competitive games today, including a buzzer beater and an overtime thriller! At the end of the day Paterson Eastside, Don Bosco Prep, Gill St.Bernard and Seton Hall Prep came away with victories!

 

                                                                           PATERSON EASTSIDE  52       EAST ORANGE  49

 

   Eastside’s Senior Asem Johnson(pictured) knocked down a deep”triple” at the buzzer to lift  the Ghosts to a 52-49 win over East Orange! For the second game in a row Paterson Eastside looked lethargic and uninterested as they trailed East Orange 28-16 at the half and needed a spark! That spark came from Junior Marlon Ebanks! Ebanks scored 14 2nd half points, including a”triple” to give Eastside it’s first lead of the season! Eastside took a 49-45 lead but let it slip away as Junior Aaron Clark’s layup tied it at 49! That’s when Johnson, who was up and down the entire contest had his game heroics! Ebanks finished the game with 19 points, while Johnson scored 12 points with 5 rebounds!Sophomore Nhazir Smith scored 8 points and dished out 6 assists and Senior Shakur Juiston grabbed 10 rebounds for Eastside! Senior Jeff Duvinston led East Orange with 13 points!

 

 

 

                                                                                                DON BOSCO PREP  58            C.B.A.  51

Junior Brandon Anderson(pictured) took over the game early, scoring 15 of his game high 20 points in the 1st half and leading Don Bosco Prep to a 58-51 win over Christian Brothers Academy! C.B.A. came out shooting as Junior Pat Andree and Senior Jack Laffey each knocked down perimeter shots early to give them a 14-10 1st quarter lead but Anderson was not to be denied as he consistently got to the bucket or went to the foul line! Senior Big man Will Downing and Senior Lonnie Rivera each chipped in 12 points for Don Bosco Prep! Andree finished with 18 points and Laffey scored 17 points to lead C.B.A.

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                                    GILL ST. BERNARD  69       TEANECK  52

   Junior Adam Mitola(pictured) scored 24 points, including 6 “triples” to lead Gill St. Bernard to a 69-52  win over Teaneck! Gill jumped ahead 10-0 to start the game and never looked back! They displayed some phenomenal shooting throughout the contest! This, despite playing without Junior Star Tyus Battle who is nursing an ankle injury! Senior J.M. Mea added 14 points for Gill St.Bernard while Nick Stakeliunas had 9 points and 9 rebounds!! Teaneck got 19 points off the bench from Senior Tyler Dearing and 16 points from Senior Zach Olukanni! Sophomore Leondre Washington chipped in  13 points for Teaneck!

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                             SETON HALL PREP  58      COLUMBIA  56  O.T.

Junior Temple Gibbs(pictured) scored 24 points as Seton Hall Prep overcame a game Columbia who took them to overtime before winning 58-56! Sophomore Treyvon Bennett added 14 points and 8 rebounds and made 3 out of 4 free throws late for Prep to clinch the game! Columbia was led by Senior Mike Runcie with 23 points and 12 points from Senior J.C. Beauburn! Columbia had taken a late lead in regulation but Gibbs constant drives to the hoop and getting to the free throw line helped  Seton Hall Prep overcome the deficit!
