015Caldwell University Caldwell, N.J….. The Hoop Group Tip-off Showcase saw five games and at the end of the day, Bergen Catholic, Gill St. Bernard, Don Bosco Prep, Blair Academy and Seton Hall Prep all came away winners!

 

 

                                                                           BERGEN CATHOLIC  65     IMMACULATE CONCEPTION  40

 

Junior guards Taj Benning and Gabe Stefanini each scored 17 points to lead Bergen Catholic to a convincing 65-40 win over Immaculate Conceptio014n! Immaculate is playing without two top players due to transfer rules but Bergen was clicking on all cylinders early to take a 35-18 halftime lead! Stefanini scored 13 of his points before intermission, while Benning scored 11 of his points! Immaculate’s one bright spot belonged to Sophomore guard Jalen Carey! Carey scored 27 of the team’s 40 points on an assortment of drives and pullup shots! Benning(right) and Carey(left) were chosen Player’s of the Game!

Senior Adam Mitola scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Sophomore Alex Schachne scored  13 points and dishing 017out 5 assists and Freshman Jake Betlow added 11 points including 5 late points to help Gill St. Bernard defeat Teaneck 64-55! Teaneck got as close as three points 47-44 but a combination of missed free throws by Teaneck and clutch shots by Gill proved the deciding factor! Teaneck was led by Sophomore Ja’Quaye James with 22 points, Senior Nick Whitaker with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots and Junior Jawaun Daniels 10 points and 6 rebounds!  Mitola(right) and James(left) were voted Player’s Of the Game!

            Brown commit Brandon Anderson scored 17 points and Junior Chris Paul added 14 pointsto lead Don Bosco Prep to 52-46 win over Christian Brother’s Academy! The game stayed close throughout but plays late from Ander019son and Paul helped give DBP the win! CBA was led by Lehigh commit Pat Andree with 19 points! Senior Jack McGuire added 13 points and 6 rebounds for CBA! Anderson(right) and Andree(left) were voted Player’s Of the Game!

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                     BLAIR ACADEMY  63       HUDSON CATHOLIC  60

 

    In a game with a tremendous amount of talent on each side Blair Academy outlasted Hudson Catholic 63-60! Junior Kodye Pu023gh scored 15 points, w022hile 6’11 Junior Deng Gak , Junior Anthony Mack added 13 and Junior Matt Turner chipped in 11 as Blair had four players score in double figures! Sophomore Luther Muhammad scored 22 points and pulled down 7 rebounds and Junior Tyheem Burno 17 points, including 4″triples” for Hudson Catholic! Blair took a 7 point lead late but a Burno three and Muhammad and one play gave Hudson a chance to tie with 6 seconds left! A missed jumper ended the rally as Blair was able to survive! Gak(right) and Muhammad(left) were voted Player’s Of The Game!

    Seton Hall Prep led 25-2 at the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back as they coasted to a 58-30254 win over Columbia! Notre 026Dame commit T.J. Gibbs(right) scored 12 points and Junior Austin Williams came off the be024nch to also score 12 points in the contest! Sophomore Stephen Gabriel led Columbia with 8 points and 7 rebounds! Seton Hall Prep led by as much as 47-18 at the end of the 3rd quarter! Williams(far right) and Gabriel(left) were voted Player’s Of The Game!
