West Orange H.S., West Orange, N.J… In the second day of the HoopGroup Tipoff Showcase Gill St. Bernard’s,West Orange, Roselle Catholic, St. Anthony’s and St. Joseph Metuchen all prevailed!
GILL ST BERNARD 51 HUN 43
Sophomore Tyus Battle scored 21 points and Junior Ian Demarest added 14 points to lead Gill St. Bernard’s to a 51- 43 win over Hun School! Mike Burke led the Hun School with 15 points!
WEST ORANGE 46 C.B.A. 45
Senior guard Isaiah Scott scored 14 points and Senior Daron hodges added 10 points as the host school West Orange played an inspired game to beat Christian Brothers Academy 46-45! Navy commit Louie Pillari led CBA with 21 points!
Cincinnati commit Quadri Moore scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Junior Otis Livingston scored 15 points with 4 steals as Linden beat Newark Tech 69-57! Sophomore Mustafa Lawrence led Newark Tech with 19 points.
ROSELLE CATHOLIC 69 TEANECK 57
Teaneck more than held it’s own against Roselle Catholic leading at the half 29-26, but Roselle Catholic’s size eventually wore the Highwaymen down and went on to pull out a 69-57 victory. Roselle Catholic had four players in double figures led by Sophomore Matt Bullock’s 16 points, 7 rebounds! Sophomore Asante Gist and Junior Tahir Pretlow each scored 12 points and Junior Pierre Saar added 10 points! They also got an impressive 17 rebound peformance from Junior Chris Silva! Teaneck was led by the outstanding play of Freshman Leondre Washington who scored 19 points and Senior Myles McLeod with 13 points and 8 rebounds!
Led by Senior Tarin Smith’s 21 points, Boston U. commit Cheddi Mosely’s 13 points and 5 assists, Sophomore Jagen Mosely’s 12 points and Markis McDuffie’s 10 points St. Anthony’s proved that they are still a team to be reckon with as they beat Pope John handily 76-47! Pope John was led by Sophomore Matt Zignorsky with 19 points including 5 “triples”!
ST. JOSEPH METUCHEN 78 SHORE REGIONAL 68
Shore Regional Senior Dan Pillari had the best performance of the weekend scoring 40 points with 8″triples” and putting a scare into St. Joe’s Metuchen, but Kentucky commit Karl Towns scored 19 points, including some clutch buckets late, got 17 points from Sophomore Breein Tyree, 14 points from Senior Marques Townes and 10 points from Vanderbilt commit Wade Baldwin as they overcame Pillari’s onslaught to pull off a 78-68 victory!
