HOOP GROUP TIPOFF SHOWCASE RESULTS: IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, DON BOSCO PREP, NEWARK EASTSIDE, ROSELLE CATHOLIC AND SETON HALL PREP WIN!

Caldwell University, N.J….. The 2016 Hoop Group Tipoff Showcase took place Saturday with 5 Showcase matchups which in the end resulted in Immaculate Conception, Don Bosco Prep, Newark Eastside, Roselle Catholic and Seton Hall Prep coming away with wins!

 

                                                                IMMACULATE CONCEPTION 82   EAST ORANGE 42

 

Immaculate Conception looked very good in their 82-42 blowout of East Orange! They got a balanced attack with 8 of their 9 participating players scoring! Junior Dehron Mitchell led the scoring with 21 points, Junior Justin Winston scored 16 points with 6 rebounds, Junior Jalen Carey scored 15 points, 4 assists and 3 steals, Sophomore Justin Galea added 11 points and 4 assists and Junior Jordyn Owens finished with 10 points! Sophomore DeJourn Cook grabbed 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots for Immaculate Conception! I.C. jumped out to a 24-8 1st quarter lead and finished the half leading 49-19! Mitchell(right) was voted Player Of the Game by Hoop Group! Sophomore Supreme Cook led East Orange with 12 points!

 

      

 

 

                                                            DON BOSCO PREP  64         GILL ST. BERNARD  56  O.T.

Don Bosco Prep held off Gill St.Bernard in O.T. 64-56 as Junior Marcellus Earlington scored 15 points with 8 rebounds and Junior Ron Harper scoring 15 points to lead Prep! Don Bosco led most of the game, but Gill St. Bernard would not quit and slowly worked their way back behind the play of Junior Alex Schachne who scored 16 points and Sophomore Paul Mulcahy who scored 12 points with 7 rebounds and 5 assists! They came all the way back to send the game into overtime at 53 all! Prep outscored Gill 11-3 in the overtime session! Earlington was voted Player Of Game by Hoop Group!

 

 

 

 

                                                                      NEWARK EASTSIDE  48             TEANECK  38

 

Newark Eastside wore down a shorthanded Teaneck squad 48-38! Newark Easstside led throughout the contest as Stony Brook commit Eli Olaniyi scored 11 points with 8 rebounds and Junior Hassan Ceesay added 14 points, but Teaneck behind Junior Ja’Quaye James who scored 21 points and Junior Jayden Dawson who chipped in 12 points, hung around! Teaneck was shorthanded because of the sitting of Senior Leondre Washington and Senior Jawuan Daniels! Newark Eastside’s Senior Amadou Benbow played a good all around game as he chipped in 8 points, grabbed 7 rebounds with 2 steals! Olaniyi was voted Player Of the Game by Hoop Group!

 

 

 

 

                                                                             ROSELLE CATHOLIC  71      POPE JOHN  58

Temple commit Nate Pierre-Louis scored 15 points and Sophomore Khalil Whitney added 14 points to lead Roselle Catholic to a 71-58 win over Pope John!  Senior Alanzo Frink scored all 12 of his points in the 1st half for Roselle Catholic as they took a 41-19 halftime lead! Pope John tried to make a game out of it as they cut the lead to 12 to end the 3rd behind Junior Aaron Clarke who finished with 20 points and Junior Samba Diallo who scored 18 points! Sophomore Jack Cavanaugh added 12 points for Pope John! Pierre-Louis was voted Player of The Game by Hoop Group!

 

 

 

 

                                                                                SETON HALL PREP  63        COLUMBIA  52

Freshman Jabri Abdur-Rahim scored 8 of Seton Hall’s 16 4th quarter points and finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocked shots to help hold off a Columbia comeback and pull off a 63-52 win!  Senior Austin Williams scored 16 points for Seton Hall Prep! Senior Brandon Askew led Columbia with 18 points! Prep led most of the game but it took Rahim’s heroics late to secure the win!  Junior Alex Imegwu chipped in 11 points for Seton Hall Prep
