HOOPGROUP TIPOFF DAY 3: DON BOSCO PREP, LINDEN, GILL ST.BERNARD AND MATER DEI WIN!

Caldwell University Caldwell, N.J….. Day 3 of the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase saw Don Bosco Prep, Linden, Gill St. Bernard and Mater Dei get wins!

 

 

                                                                         DON BOSCO PREP  78     NEWARK EASTSIDE  73

Senior Marcellus Earlington(top right) scored 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Rutgers commit Ron Harper added 23 points to lead Don Bosco Prep to a 78-73 win over tough Newark Eastside! Newark Eastside took a 39-35 lead into the half, but the game went back and forth throughout in the 2nd half! Senior Matt Herasme scored 13 points for Prep! Senior Deandre Speight(right) finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Jahid Jenkins and Shamir Johnson added 15 points and Sophomore Mikah Johnson finished with 12 points for Newark Eastside!

Senior Tavon Jones(far right) scored 15 points and pulled down 6 rebounds as Linden defeated Bergen Catholic 50-44! Senior Mikey Watkins chipped in 9 points with 5 assists and Senior Luis Rodriguez added 9 points and 5 steals! Junior Doug Edert led the scoring with 19 points and Junior Zach Freemantle(near right) added 16 points and 8 rebounds for Bergen Catholic!

Junior Paul Mulcahy(far right) scored 18 points,7 assists and 6 rebounds to lead Gill St. Bernard to a 68-46 win over Shawnee! Senior Alex Schachne  and Senior Brad Bundschuh each added 14 points for Gill! Senior Devon Deveney(near right) led Shawnee with 20 points! Gill St.Bernard took a 39-17 lead at the half and never looked back!

Senior Yasin Pretlow(far right) short runner at the buzzer gave Mater Dei a 56-55 win over St. Mary’s! The play was controversial as to whether he got the shot off in time! The officials gave him the bucket! Mary’s made a furious comeback and finally took the lead with 3.8 seconds left as Senior Jay’von Jackson made two free throws! That set the stage for Pretlow’s heroics! He finished the game with 21 points and Loyola commit Kenny Jones added 14 points!St. Mary’s was led by Junior Papi Roberts(near right) with 16 points and 13 points by Jackson!
