HOOPGROUP TIPOFF SHOWCASE DAY 2: ST. MARY’S(ELIZABETH), ST.ANTHONY, BLAIR AND ST.BENEDICTS WIN!

Caldwell University,N.J…….Gardenstatehoops did Day two of the HoopGroup Tipoff Showcase and caught 4 of the 5 games played! St. Mary’s (Elizabeth), St. Anthony, Blair and St.Benedict’s all came away with wins!

Junior Jay’Von Jackson scored 18 points and Senior Ahmad St.Fleur added 15 points and 5 assists as St.Mary’s defeated Hackensack 61-40! Sophomore transfer Papie Roberts 12 points as nine players scored in the contest for St.Mary’s as they played very unselfishly! Hackensack was led by Junior B.J. Saliba who scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds! St.Mary’s took a 41-25 lead to end the 3rd and coasted from there! Jackson was named Player Of the Game by HoopGroup!

Howard University commit R.J. Cole scored 24 points as St.Anthony took a 30-15 halftime lead and maintained a double digit lead throughout to defeat St.Joseph(Montvale) 54-36! St.Joe’s struggled shooting the ball early behind St.Anthony’s hard nose defense as they could only manage the 15 points in the 1st half! Senior guard Chauncey Hawkins and Senior forward Joe Radi each scored 11 points to lead St.Joe’s!  Junior Lonce Bethea added 10 points  for St.Anthony! Cole was chosen Player of The Game by HoopGroup!

In a tough contest, Blair held off a game Linden and pulled out a 46-42 win! Wyoming commit Anthony Mack led Blair with 14 points and Junior guard Janub Chuol added 11 points! Linden took a lead on a 31-30 on a “triple” by Senior Khalief Crawford! Blair took the lead back and took a 8 point lead with 1:15 left! but Linden again cut the lead and had a shot to tie late! Crawford finished with 15 points to lead Linden! Mack was chosen Player of the Game by HoopGroup!

Syracuse commit Bourama Sidibe scored 20 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, Sophomore Precious Achiuwa scored 16 points with 7 boards and Freshman guard Noah Farrakhanadded 13 points as St.Benedict’s defeated Bergen Catholic 68-51! Bergen Catholic fought hard and actually took a 35-34 lead on a “triple’ from Senior Thomas Binelli in the 3rd quarter! St,Benedict’s proceded to go on a 24-0 run to take a 58-35 lead! Columbis commit Gabe Stefanini and Fairfield commit Taj Benning each scored 12 points to lead Bergen Catholic! Achiuwa was chosen Player of the Game by HoopGroup!
