JERSEY HAWKS JUNE JUMPOFF: UPTOWN’S FINEST AND NEWJERSEY UNITED WIN “CHIPS”!

Queen Of Peace H.S. North Arlington,N.J… Gardenstatehoops took a trip to North Arlington to take a look at the Jersey Jayhawks June Jumpoff Tournament for 13u and 15u! We witnessed the Uptown Finest from New York and the New Jersey United from Mendham pull off the “CHIPS”!

Behind the play of Tournament MVP Moises Burgos(right) and Maykel Valera(right) the Uptown Finest avenged an early pool play lost to beat the Playaz 14u team in the Championship game 46-36! Uptown led by as much as 18 in the contest as Burgos showed a mature game beyond his years and Valera was strong in the backcourt and completed the win with clutch free throws late as the Playaz made a frantic comeback! Nigel Towns played well for the Playaz! The Playaz squad had pulled off a great semifinal win beating the New York Dragon 41-40 behind the play of Towns earlier in the day!

New  Jersey United took a 15-0 lead to start the game and never looked back as they defeated the Pharoah’s from Newark 41-21 and captured the 13u “Chip”! Luca Delveschovo(left) was the catalyst for United as he led a balanced attack with 12 points! He has a strong body and proved capable of scoring in an assortment of ways around the basket! The kid has a promising future! Moussa Camera(middle left) showed that he is an upcoming player in the future as he was the Pharoah’s main piece!
