JINGLE BELLS JUBILEE: GILL ST.BERNARD REPEAT CHAMPS!

012Don Bosco Tech Academy, Paterson,N.J….. The Playaz sponsored Jingle Bells Jubilee came to it’s conclusion with Gill St.Bernard playing high level basketball throughout the Tournament and finish it by winning it’s second straight Jubilee Title!

Senior Mike Morreale scored 15 points and Sophomore Paul Mulcahy scored 10 points, pulled down 9 rebounds and dropped 6 dimes to lead Gill St. Bernard to a 48-35 win over St.Peters Prep! Prep jumped ahead early in the contest behind the play of Senior Jorge Portorreal, but Gill took the lead late in the 1st quarter and took a 24-17 lead into intermission!  Morreale scored 9 of his points during the stanza and Mulcahy added 7! St. Peters, who also had an impressive Tournament made another run in the 3rd but Junior Alex Schacne stabilized the game for Gill St.Bernard with his penetration and kick outs to open shooters! Morreale was voted the Game MVP, while Mulcahy was recognized as the Tournament MVP! Portorreal was given the Sportsmanship award!

In the 3rd place contest, Junior guard Ja’Quaye James scored 24 points and dished off 6 assists and Senior Pierre Sow scored 8 points, pulled down 7 rebounds and blocked 5 shots, including a game saver as Teaneck outlasted Immaculate Conception 60-58! Immaculate took a 46-45 lead into the back and forth contest! Junior Jalen Carey lead Immaculate Conception with 19 points and Junior D.J. Mitchell added 10 points and 5 assists!

 

 

                                                                  5TH PLACE CONTEST:  KENNEDY  55      HACKENSACK  52

Junior guard Jaylen Colon scored 22 points with 8 steals to offset Hackensack’s Junior guard Atiba Taylor’s 23 points and 10 rebounds as Kennedy defeated Hackensack 55-52! Down 53-48, Taylor’s “triple” with 26 seconds left cut the lead t009o 53-52! Freshman Jah-Mahli Carnegie made two free throws with 18.8 seconds left to give Kennedy a 55-52 lead! Hackensack’s last three try went off the rim and Kennedy had held on!
