JINGLE BELLS JUBILEE: HACKENSACK AND RAMAPO REACH FINALS, POPE JOHN AND WAYNE HILLS ALSO WIN!
Don Bosco Tech Academy Paterson, N.J….. The Jingle Bells Jubilee Holiday Tournament Hackensack and Ramapo advanced to the Jingle Bells Jubilee Championship! Pope John and Wayne Hills advanced to the 5th place game!
HACKENSACK 74 TEANECK 47
After a tough 14 all 1st quarter, Hackensack outplayed and out worked Teaneck and made a tough contest into a Hackensack laugher as the Comets beat the Highwaymen in every phase of the game 74-47! Youngstown St. commit Atiba Taylor(top) was locked in early and ready as he ran the offensive show! He finished with 10 points, 8 dimes, 3 steals and a blocked shot and kept everyone involved as 9 players scored in the contest! Senior B.J. Saliba led the scoring with 17 points! The activity in the paint of Senior Razeyah Surrell and Senior Branden Hogue-Hicks(right) was a problem for Teaneck throughout! Surrell finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Hogue-Hicks added 10 points and 7 rebounds! Teaneck’s all-time leading scorer Ja’Quaye James was held to 10 points, as Senior Nadame Tucker led them with 11!
RAMAPO 54 KENNEDY 49
Senior Jason Oppler(right) scored 17 points and dished out 4 assists and Junior K.C. Hunt scored 14 points to lead Ramapo to 54-49 win over Kennedy! Ramapo were up as much as 16 and led at the end of the 3rd quarter 37-28! Behind the play of Senior Jamir Lattimore, Kennedy cut the lead to 3 before Oppler made a driving layup and Hunt had a putback to put the lead back up! Hunt had 9 rebounds for Ramapo! Senior Jaylen Colon led Kennedy with 19 points, while Lattimore finished with 14 points! Ramapo will meet Hackensack Friday for the title!
WAYNE HILLS 84 EASTSIDE 62
Senior Justin Wills (far right)hit 8 “triples” and scored 30 points and Senior Joey Belli(near right) scored 21 points and dished out 8 dimes as Wayne Hills defeated Eastside 84-62! Senior Patrick Gilmore added 16 points for Hills as they led throughout! The lone bright spot for Eastside was the play of Senior Lamar Johnson who scored 32 points, including 6 “triples”!
POPE JOHN 73 RUTGERS PREP 66
Sacred Heart commit Aaron Clarke(far right) scored 29 points and Junior Eddie Davis(near right) added 22 as Pope John lost the lead, then regained it at the end to pull off a 73-66 win over Rutgers Prep! Pope John led at the half 44-32, but Rutgers Prep fought back in the 3rd quarter and cut the lead to 56-55 at the end of the stanza! The game went back and forth in the final quarter, but Davis steal and layup with 2:15 to go gave Pope John a 66-64 lead and they held on down the stretch! Freshman Trey Patterson lead Rutgers Prep with 15 points and Junior Richie Greaves added 14!
