JINGLES BELL JUBILEE: ST.JOE’S-METUCHEN, GILL ST.BERNARD, IMMACULATE CONCEPTION AND PATERSON EASTSIDE WIN!

Paterson Charter, Paterson,N.J….. The Playaz Basketball sponsored Jingle Bells Jubilee Holiday Tournament was in effect with four solid games! At the end of the night St. Joe’s-Metuchen, Gill St. Bernard, Immaculate Conception and Paterson Eastside all pulled off wins to advance to the semifinals!

ST. JOE’S-METUCHEN 63 COLUMBIA 36

St.Joe’s-Metuchen’s dynamic duo of Syracuse bound Tyus Battle and “Ole” Mississippi commit Breein Tyree was just too much for Columbia as St.Joe’s outscored them 25-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-14 and never looked back enroute to a 63-36 win! Battle(right) scored 22 points, pulled down 9 rebounds, dished out 4 dimes and blocked 4 shots, while Tyree(left) added 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead St.Joe’s! Columbia stayed close in the 1st quarter only trailing 12-8, but St.Joe;s explosive second quarter was just too much to overcome! Sophomore Stephon Gabriel led Columbia with 17 points and 6 rebounds!

GILL ST. BERNARD 55 PLAINFIELD 46

Senior Adam Mitola(right) scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Gill St. Bernard’s young guns consisting of Freshman Jake Betlow, Freshman Paul Mulcahy and Sophomore’s Alex Schachne and Dallas Hoffman gave him plenty of help as they defeated a tough, game Plainfield 55-46! Plainfield is also a team that has started trusting their youth as they play a number of Sophomores! Plainfield started the game off by scoring the first 8 points of the game! GSB didn’t get the lead until 7:36 of the 2nd quarter as Mitola hit two free throws to put them ahead 23 -22 and end the half with a 35-26 halftime lead! Sophomore Jay’von Jackson help keep Plainfield in striking distance as he scored 9 of his 18 points in the second half! Gill would not relinquish the lead despite Plainfield’s resilient effort! Betlow added 14 points for Gill! Senior Cesar Cordoba finished with 11 points for Plainfield

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION 54 ST. JOE’S-MONTVALE 52

Sophomore Jalen Carey(right) scored 26 points and had 5 steals as St.Joe’s-Montvale had no answer for him in Immaculate Conception semi surprising 54-52 win over St.Joe’s! Carey scored 17 points in the first half as IC took a 30-22 lead at the half! St. Joe’s had a big problem when Senior standout Nate Garvey, who scored 11 1st quarter points picked up his third foul and had to sit the 2nd quarter! Freshman Dejourn Cook added 9 points and 6 rebounds for Immaculate! Junior Isaac Hippolyte scored 11 points with 6 rebounds and Junior Chauncey Hawkins added 9 points and 6 assists for St.Joe’s! Senior Andre Farquharson made two huge free throws late for IC to seal the win!

PATERSON EASTSIDE 62 HACKENSACK 50

Paterson Eastside put their will on this game as they out scrapped Hackensack for a 62-50 win! Junior Nhaz Smith(right) scored 26 points to lead the way for the Ghosts! Sophomore Yohely Ortiz added 13 points and Senior Terra Gatling added 8 points and 10 rebounds and Senior Charles Powell chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds for Eastside! Hackensack took a 20-13 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but gave it back as Eastside then outscored them in the 2nd by the same score to tie the game at the half at 33! Eastside proceeded to outscore Hackensack 29-17 in the second half! Senior Michael Richardson scored 13 points to lead Hackensack, Sophomore Razeyah Surrell scored 10 points while Junior Mykel Swanston and Sophomore’s B.J. Saliba and Toren Portee each scored 8 points!
