JUST JUNE FINAL: EASTSIDE PREVAILS IN “CHIP” 68-64!
Roberto Clemente School, Paterson,N.J……The Playaz sponsored Just June League came to it’s conclusion with high level semifinal and championship games! When it was all done Paterson Eastside had claimed the Just June title!

Paterson Eastside and Teaneck put on quite a show in the championship contest as big shot after big shot was made in the game and their were more than a few players who succeeded in making clutch plays! Senior Shakur Juiston(left) who was named MVP had a big day in both the semifinals and finals! In the championship game Juiston scored 10 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked 5 shots as his presence on the defensive end was probably more important than his offensive production! Senior Marquel Sheffield scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, Junior Terra Gatling scored 20 points, Senior Asem Johnson scored 14 points, with 5 assists and Sophomore Nassir Smith dished out 7 dimes for the Ghosts! Despite falling in the “chip’ Teaneck played at a high level! Sophomore Leondre Washington(Sportsman Award right) scored 22 points, freshman phenom Ja’Quaye Jones added 16 points and 6 assists and Senior Jalen Rose chipped in 12 points with 6 rebounds! Teaneck led at the half 38-31, but Eastside’s size and dominance on the boards helped their comeback! Eastside had to hold on late when with 1:24 left in the game and up 66-60,Juiston fouled out! Washington made a bucket to make it 66-62 but Johnson’s layup help the Ghosts keep their advantage!
In Semifinal play Eastside reached the championship game by defeating Hudson Catholic 68-67 in double overtime! Juiston scored 27 points with 12 rebounds and Asem Johnson scored 22 points to lead the Ghosts! Senior Nassir Barrino scored 22 points and freshman stud Jahvon Quinerly added 19 points for Hudson Catholic! Teaneck reached the championship game by defeating Kennedy 58-46 as Washington scored 13 points while Senior Ceasar DeJesus and Rose each scored 12 points! Junior Jalaini Morris led Kennedy with 13 points and Senior Aalim Jones added 11
