KENNEDY HOLDS OFF EASTSIDE 51-49!

Paterson, N.J……Kennedy had to hold off a game Eastside team and survive 51-49!

Sophomore Jalen Hargrove(far right) led Kennedy with 13 points, Senior Jamir Lattimore added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Junior Avant’e Gilbert chipped in 10 points with 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots! Eastside’s Senior Lamar Johnson led all scorers with 20 points and scored his 1,000th career point in the contest! Kennedy led most of the game until Eastside Senior Yoheily Ortiz tied the game at 34 in the 3rd quarter! Kennedy took a 39-37 lead into the 4th quarter, but Eastside finally took a 40-39 lead on a “triple” by Johnson! Sophomore Jah-Mali Carnegie gave Kennedy back the lead at 43-42 on a three free throws! Kennedy looked like they had the game under control until Eastside made a steal and Johnson hit a “triple” to tie the game at 49 with 14 seconds left! Kennedy got the ball with 9 seconds left as Lattimore went coast to coast and dished to Gilbert(near right) for what proved to be the game winning basket! Kennedy played without leading scorer Jaylen Colon!
