METRO CLASSIC: MONTVERDE DEFEATS ROSELLE CATHOLIC 71-64!

You had the #1 ranked player in the Country in Montverde’s 6’8 Ben Simmons(#20) and the #1 point guard in the Country in Roselle Catholic’s Isaiah Briscoe(#1) and what you got was flashes of brilliance in Montverde’s 71-64 victory over Roselle Catholic! The L.S.U. commit Simmons got in foul trouble and sat nearly the entire 3rd quarter! He still finished the game with 18 points and 14 rebounds and helped Montverde close out the game with key free throws late! Briscoe, the Kentucky commit didn’t have his typical shooting night, but as usual gave the crowd some mouth opening moves enroute to an 18 point, 6 assist game! While each player showed why they are ranked where they are and are the Batman’s of their squads each team’s Robin proved to be the biggest factor! Florida commit Noah Dickerson led Montverde with 22 points and 10 rebounds and held the fort when Simmons was out! Roselle Catholic’s South Carolina commit Chris Silva finished with a game high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds! Junior Howard Washington added 10 points for Montverde and Junior Matt Bullock scored 9 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Roselle Catholic! In the other contest Top 10 ranked player Cheick Diallo scored 23 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 3 shots as Our Savior Of New American defeated Linden 67-55! Senior Kassoum Yakwe added 11 points and blocked 5 shots and Pittsburgh commit Damon Wilson chipped in 9 points with 6 assists! Linden was led by Senior guard Otis Livingston with 16 points with 4 dimes and Senior Joshua Carter finished the contest with 13 points for Linden!
