NEWARK EASTSIDE BLOWS OUT EWING 83-56 TO WIN GROUP 3 TITLE!

Rutgers University,NJ……..Senior Akbar Hoffman did not shoot very well in Newark Eastside’s win over Teaneck to advance to the NJSIAA championship! But in the title game Hoffman was ready! Akbar shot 12 for 15 including 6 of 7 from the three point line in scoring 31 points to lead Newark Eastside to a 83-56 win over Ewing and the NJSIAA Group 3 Championship! Newark Eastside known for their team defense had the task of holding down Ewing’s leadibg scorer in the State Trey Lowe! Lowe who averages 28 points a game scored 20 but it was probably the toughest 20 of his season! Senior Abdul Lewis added 13 points with 8 rebounds for Newark Eastside, Junior Ahmad Harrison scored 10 points while Seton Hall commit Ismael Sanogo chipped in 7 points, 8 rebounds,2 blocked shots and 2 steals! Eastside took a 23-9 lead and never looked back! They move into the T.O.C. with a 39-1 record while Ewing finishes their season at 27-5!
