NEWARK EASTSIDE DEFEATS HACKENSACK 59-48 TO WIN NORTH GROUP 4 CHAMPIONSHIP!

Elizabeth,N.J…. Newark Eastside’s lock down defense eventually wore down Hackensack as they won 58-49 to win the North Group 4 Championship!

Newark Eastside was led by Senior Shamir Johnson with 19 points, Senior Jahid Jenkins with 11 points and Stony Brook commit Hassan Ceesay chipped in 9 points! Hackensack led at the half 25-23 as Senior BJ Saliba and Youngstown St. commit Atiba Taylor had 9 points apiece! Newark Eastside came out of the gate fast in the 2nd half as Johnson’s “triple gave them their first lead of the game 26-25! Newark Eastside took a double digit lead midway through the 4th and held off a Hackensack last gasp rally! Saliba led Hackensack with 18 points, Taylor added 10 points despite foul trouble which hurt the Comets and Senior Toren Portee chipped in 9 points! Newark Eastside will play Shawnee Sunday 12pm at Rutgers for the State Group 4 Title!
