NEWARK EASTSIDE DEFEATS HUDSON CATHOLIC TO WIN “JUST JUNE”!

Don Bosco Academy, Paterson,NJ…… The Playaz sponsored Just June League came to it’s conclusion with a hard fought Championship game between Newark Eastside and Hudson Catholic! When it was over, Newark Eastside walked away with the “CHIP”! Led by rising Junior’s Elijah Olaniyi and Quaion Taylor, Newark Eastside pulled off a 43-40 win! Taylor finished with 14 points and Olaniyi(pictured left) showed it on both ends by scoring 10 points and playing outstanding defense! His overall play earned him the Playoff MVP! Regular season or summer ball, one thing that can be counted on with Newark Eastside..They will defend! They forced two turnovers late which proved to be the difference in the contest! Rising Sophomore Luther Muhammad(pictured far left) led Hudson Catholic with 14 points and was the player of the game for the losing side! Newark Eastside reached the Championship game by blowing out Kennedy 55-38! Olaniyi led the way with 14, while Kennedy’s Alphonso Gee led all scorers with 23! Hudson Catholic advanced to the Championship game by beating Bergen Catholic 34-31 as Muhammad’s “triple” with 3 seconds left proved to be the game winner! Rising Junior Taj Benning led Bergen Catholic with 12 points!
