NON-PUBLIC “A” CHAMPIONSHIP: POPE JOHN BEATS CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY 71-35!

Pine Belt Arena, Toms River,NJ… Pope John Sparta captured the Non-Public A State Championship in a dominating performance against Christian Brothers Academy 71-35! Senior Jeromy Rodriguez(left) was the catalyst in Pope John’s win as he scored 16 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, had 2 steals, a couple of man like dunks and a blocked shot! Junior James Scott(right) scored 14 of his 16 points in the 2nd half, while Syracuse bound and Senior Damien Rance each scored 10 points with Diagne grabbing 6 rebounds and scoring the first six points of the contest that established Pope John’s dominance from the start! Pope John ran out to a 19-3 1st quarter lead and never looked back as Rance’s two “triples” help lead the explosion! Junior Pat Andree led C.B.A. in scoring with 14 points with 4 rebounds and Adelphi University commit Jack Laffey added 7 points! Pope John now qualifies for the six team T.O.C. that starts on Wednesday in Toms River!
