NON-PUBLIC A FINAL: ST. JOE’S METUCHEN REACH T.O.C. WITH 85-72 THREE-PEAT PERFORMANCE!!
Toms River,NJ….. St. Joe’s Metuchen was in a little trouble in the first half as star player’s Karl Towns and Wade Baldwin both picked up two fouls early and had to sit an extended period! Both sat the entire 2nd quarter so it was up to Senior Marques Townes(pictured) to keep Joe’s close! He more than did his job in keeping his team close by scoring 13 of his 22 points in the first half! His play kept St.Peters Prep from getting a big league as they held a slight 35-32 margin! But holding it down enabled Towns and Baldwin to get back and at full strength they are a very tough team to beat! St. Joe’s outscored Prep 25-11 in the 3rd quarter to take a 57-46 lead and they held off a couple of Prep runs to pull off a 85-72 win and a three-peat of the Non-Public A Championship! St. Peters Prep battled and were more than willing in the contest as Senior Austin White and Sophomore Veer Singh were terrific in their quest for a championship! they combined for 43 points in the game and hit big shots in their comeback attempt! Townes finished with 22 points for St. Joe’s while Towns scored 19 of his 22 points in the 2nd half and Baldwin scored 13 of his 17! Sophomore Breein Tyree added 14 points and gave a flash of his talent level with a couple of high flying dunks in the game coming from his 5’9 frame! white finished with 23 points and Singh added 20 which also got 8 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots from Sophomore Kaleb bishop off the bench!(pictured is St. Joe’s seniors)
