NON PUBLIC A MATCHUP: # 1 DON BOSCO PREP MOVES ON WITH 69-58 WIN OVER # 8DEPAUL!
Ramsey,NJ….Five will beat two every time! DePaul got great efforts from Senior Juwuan Carter and Junior Spencer Smith in their bid to upset Don Bosco Prep! But Prep got a strong team effort as they had all five starters in double figures on the way to a 69-58 win to advance to the Non-Public A Semifinals against Pope John Of Sparta! Junior Lonnie Rivera(pictured) led Prep with 15 points! Senior’s Paul Jorgensen and Jack Ely along with Junior Amani Craddock each scored 11 points and Senior Tom Sweeney scored 10 points! It offset the 31 points and 20 points that Carter and Smith scored respectively! Don Bosco jumped out quick with a 10-1 run to start the game, but DePaul came back to tie the game at 14! Prep slowly pushed the lead and kept it in double figures most of the contest!
NOTE: The lost by DePaul ended the tremendous career of DePaul’s Juwuan Carter(right)! Carter is family to the site and he has proved himself to be one tough player! After losing four starters from the year before J.Carter came into the season having to be the man and go to guy being his team would be inexperienced! Well, Juwuan more than held his own! He played all five positions and even with the other squad keying on him every night he still managed to score over 22 points a game and grab nearly 8 rebounds and make many a big shot this season! Carter is a career 1,000 point scorer and in this websites opinion a Scholarship Player! On a personal note it has been a pleasure to watch Juwuan grow from a young 7 year old kid to a well adjusted young man with a great future ahead of him! Congratulations to Juwuan and the Carter family on an outstanding career and the best in the future!!
