NORTH 1 GROUP 4 MATCHUP: # 6 PASSAIC COUNTY TECH UPSETS # 2 KENNEDY 68-61!

Paterson,NJ…… Trailing 34-28 at the half Passaic County Tech outscored Kennedy 25-14 in the 3rd quarter to take a 53-47 3rd quarter lead and held on to a 68-61 win over Kennedy to advance to the finals of the North 1 Group 4 Sectional title against Eastside! Senior Nesto Regalado(pictured) scored 16 of his game high 24 points in the 2nd half and Senior Zaheem Beal scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Tech! Kennedy led the entire 1st half but Tech came out hard in the 3rd and with 5:31 left in the quarter Beal hit a”triple” to put Tech up 38-37! after Kennedy went up 39-38 on a bucket by Junior Jevon Rawls Regalado made two free throws and Senior Vic Mitchell hit a”triple” to give Tech the lead for good 43-39! It then became Kennedy chasing Tech the rest of the way! With 50 seconds left Junior Aalim Jones found Sophomore Brian Patterson underneath for a layup to cut the lead to 63-61! But Regalado found Beal for a layup and Senior Brevon Brevard hit a free throw to give P.C.T. the cushion it needed to hold on! Brevard finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds! Kennedy was led by Sophomore Alphonso Gee with 17 points, but was held scoreless in the 2nd half by Tech! Rawls finished with 16 points for the Knights!
