NORTH JERSEY NON-PUBLIC A MATCHUP: ST.PETERS PREP REACH FINAL WITH 63-62 WIN OVER BERGEN CATHOLIC!
Oradell,NJ……In a highly competitive contest, St.Peters Prep outlasted Bergen Catholic in the North Jersey Non-Public A Semifinal matchup and will play Don Bosco Prep in the championship game at Rutgers University!
Sophomore Veer Singh was fouled with 3.1 seconds on the clock on a three point field goal attempt! With the score tied at 62, Singh made 1 of 3 free throw attempts and that one proved to be the game winner! Pace University commit, Senior Vic Jusino(right) led Prep with 18 points and 7 rebounds and High Point University commit, Senior Austin White scored 16 points including a”triple” to give St.Peters Prep a 62-60 advantage! Bergen Catholic Senior Nadi Beciri who scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds tied the score at 62 on a follow up putback! It set the stage for Singh’s free throw! Junior Justin Salem led Bergen Catholic with 20 points, while Junior Pierfrancisco Oliva scored 12 points with 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocked shots! Singh finished with 13 points!
NOTES: The lost by Bergen Catholic ended the Scholastic careers of Nadi Beciri(pictured), Brandon Johnson and Brian Ward! Nadi is probably the most improved player in the area as he refined his game to an All-County level and has low level D-1 and D-2 schools very interested in his services! He became a 1,000 point scorer this season where he became the first Crusader to reach that plateau in 8 years! Johnson and Ward have had solid careers and both are expected to play Collegiate basketball at a D-2 or D-3 level! Gardenstatehoops would like to congratulate these players and their families on their Highschool careers!
