NORTH SEC 1 GROUP 2 STATES: MANCHESTER PULLS OFF DOUBLE O.T. WIN OVER MAHWAH 65-59!

Haledon,N.J….. Sophomore Terol Wright(right) scored 21 points and Senior Terrell Griffin came back strong late in the contest as Manchester came back to defeat Mahwah 65-59 in double overtime!

Manchester had to overcome that tremendous play from Mahwah Senior Brett Hill(bottom right)! He was unstoppable for much of the game as he scored 37 points and his play kept Mahwah out front! Wright kept Manchester close with drives to the bucket! Griffin(mid right) struggled for most of the game, but showed up at the right time as his “triple” sent the game into it’s first overtime at 43! Griffin then scored 11 of his 18 points in the two overtime sessions, including a “triple” to give Manchester a 62-59 lead late in the second O.T.! The game started out slow as Mahwah led after the 1st quarter 6-5 and at halftime 21-17! They seemed to have taken control as they went on a 9-0 run to end the 3rd and take a 39-31 lead! Manchester stepped up the defensive pressure and held Mahwah to 2 points in the 4th to eventually tie the score! Hill again knocked down big shots, but Manchester answered back every time to finally pull out the win! Sophomore Zach Legreaux hit 3″triples” and scored 11 points for Manchester! Ryan Straining scored 12 points and Senior Jack Hope added 10 points for Mahwah! Manchester will now play Ramsey for the Sectional Group 2 final!
